I'm trying to install MP 1.0.2. It restarts my PC while installing SQL Express. The crash is so severe that the system keeps on resetting after reboot. Basically, it killed my system.
I've tried many times with system rebuilt. Even tried to run sqlexpr32.exe seperately.

Does anyone have trouble with SQL Express install?

Thanks
Phuoc

Have a look here, the problem is that there is a bug in a windows component that loads the manifest of one of the SQL executables that runs on startup causing the system reboots.

To solve the problem, you'll need to either install Windows XP Service Pack 3 or the following hotfixes:
An application that uses the Sxs.dll file crashes when you run the application on a Windows XP-based computer
The computer may restart when you add a manifest that has the Windows Vista extension to an .exe file or to a .dll file in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or in WEPOS

    :D

This is thanks in advance as I haven't worked through the fix yet, but after a full Windows reinstall followed by the same error, and constant BSOD's it's great that I might still be able to use MediaPortal.

    Cheers!!
