Hi all. I could do with a bit of help please.

I uninstalled MP and, because I thought the source of my problem was the SQL Express, I uninstalled that as well thinking that MP would install from scratch.

However, when I tried to install MP again the installer said that I already had SQL server installed and skipped the installation of it.. I've tried installing SQL express manually but I am not having much luck. I have used the Microsoftr Windows Cleanup Utility and deleted the Microsoft SQL server folder without any success.

MP STILL insists that I have SQL server installed.

Anyone how to persuade MP to install sql server again?

Nothing so simple, I'm afraid. All has been uninstalled and the SQL server folder deleted. There is nothing left to uninstall, which is why I am getting frustrated when MP installer says it is already installed on my PC.

If I search the registry there appears to be quite a few entries where SQL server is mentioned but I am reluctant to start fiddling.

Deleting the following key will make MP think SQL Server is not installed:

    in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:
    SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Microsoft SQL Server\\SQLEXPRESS\\MSSQLServer\\CurrentVersion

    Thanks.

It certainly let MP attempt the install but still had problems.

I used MySQL instead and now works fine again.

    :D
