i'm not a code guy so this question may be idiotic, but is there any way to launch specific features of mp without launching the entire program? for example, could i create a desktop shortcut to mp's music "module" (for lack of a better word) which would launch it on it's own? i am creating a desktop environment using rainmeter from which i would like to launch mp's music and/or movie applications, independently of each other. by launching the mp program in typical fashion, it becomes the desktop environment in a sense, which i'm trying to avoid (nothing against mp's great looking front-end mind you, just not looking for this sort of thing whether it be wmc7, xbmc, etc.).

MP is a classical 10 foot interface. Right now there is no seperation of modules (esp. since the core takes quite a while to load, this would not help you). You might find the following usefull:
Run MP in the background (minimized to tray).
Use a scripting language to maximize it (send a maximize event to the app) and then send a key to the app to go to music. Save that script as music. And minimize again when done.

thanks for the prompt response mbuzina, much appreciated - your workaround approach sounds very interesting, and something that i think would work out well with what i have in mind, especially given i have no problem having mp run in the background. obviously i don't have the expertise to create such scripts, is this something i can hire someone to do?
