One small bug report, for some reason file named

"Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back"

scraped to

Empire (2002)
Empire (2002) - IMDb

I was able to fix it by hiding the entry, renaming the file to "The Empire Strikes Back", then using the "unhide" tool

Overall I have had good results with this plugin indexing nearly 400 movies.

The IMDb search system doesn't even give room for mistakes on that one.

"Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back" = AKA search lookup that IMDb+ scraper does in search-node

It goes straight to the correct details page for that movie without even showing other results.

Check otherwise that no NFO file exists with the 'tt0262396' in it, because by default MovingPictures and IMDb+ will use that and go straight for the results tied to that movie.

It's possible I had a typo in there that I didn't see. All the other Star Wars movies indexed correctly.

    No problem :)

IMDb website keeps changing so I have to stay vigilant with the IMDb+ scraper-script to compensate for any changes they make. That's where the IMDb+ plugin comes into play a lot now, because it will auto-update your system to grab the new scraper-script version then if somebody finds a problem and I fix it.

I was totally expecting they had indeed changed something again, but with as many factors at play it is also always possible that something else was happening, such as those darn typos ;)

Glad you got it sorted, that's all that matters in the end.

Whilst on the subject of Star Wars, I have all five movies, however "Star Wars IV: A New Hope" keeps being labelled as "IMDB - Star Wars IV: A New Hope" and thus messes up the alphabetical listing of the five films. I suppose I'm asking how to stop the IMDB prefix being added?

    Many thanks,

    M.

The only scraper that does that is the default imdb.com one.

When a movie gets imported, the first/primary scraper source is used and forever tied to that movie. You have to "normally" reposition another scraper-script in first/primary position and sent the movie back to the importer to fix this.

To make this easier (and to not loose watched flag and date-added info), a few functions are added to the IMDb+ plugin.

#1, when you open IMDb+ plugin, it verifies if the IMDb+ scraper-script is still in primary/first position. If it is not you get a notify dialog asking you if you would like to 'correct' that mistake.

#2, as stated a movie imported with default imdb.com or themoviedb.org or any other scraper-script that uses IMDb tt-IDs would still get used then, so this is where the "Force IMDb+..." option comes into play.

More info on how to use "Force IMDb+..." can be found on the Wiki @ "What to do for an existing collection"

You can verify this via another function "IMDb+ Info" that allows you to see all the info behind the scene, such as making sure you have the latest IMDb+ scraper-script installed, the default rename database version installed and also the number of movies that are controlled by IMDb+ scraper-script and more importantly in your case the amount of movies that are still controlled by other scraper-scripts.

Ideally you would have the non-IMDb+ number be '0', but there are many valid reasons for a higher number. For example if you have an adult collection and use the CDUniverse scraper, or if you have movies that simply do not exist at the IMDb website but do have an entry at TheMovieDb site. You can see more information on what movies are controlled by other scraper-scripts in the IMDb+.log file.

Once you 'switched' over the movie via "Force IMDb+..." you can then simply refresh it inside MovingPictures on an individual basis, or you can use another IMDb+ plugin feature to refresh your entire collection or in this case the movies that are inside the default rename database system (which would catch your Star Wars series movie).

Thank you for the detailed explanation Rochess. It has helped me sort out the prefix issue.

I have been using the Avalon skin and unfortunately the IMDB+ GUI isn't supported.

However, I went back into the default skin, brought up IMDB+ settings in the MP GUI and the dialog box popped up to set IMDB+ as the primary scraper. After this I went back into MovingPictures setup and all the Movies with the "IMDB+" prefix I sent back to the importer. After re-importing the IMDB prefix has disappeared.

Just another two clients to sort out now.

And you can ask the people of the Avalon skin to include support if possible. It helps if the request comes from a user who actually uses their skin. My TV size vs my viewing distance is simply too big for me to consider those skins, so I'm on a custom DefaultWide version myself with all the fonts supersized.

I just noticed you said this part, and you can use the IMDb+ Plugin for this as well. The refresh movie system allows you to refresh movies on Alphabetical letter as well, so you could select the "I" option in there. Might catch a few extra movies, but much easier way perhaps (unless you already did the other two systems).
