Status blu ray implementation (1 Viewer)

Hello,

What is the status on when blu rays can be played within MP? Are there any projects out there trying to do this? Any threads worth following?

I know its not possible now but any timespan when we can expect this?

Is it because of protection implementation or because of the OS? I mean you can play m2ts files and soon PGS subtitles too. Why cant a blu ray ISO be played like a DVD ISO?

In short, it is huge amount of work

• Menus (no documentation available)
• Disk structure (it is not enough just to play m2ts file(s) on some seamless bracnhing movies)
• Copy protection - not possible to handle it without breaking law, as open source project wont ever receive valid decryption keys
• ...

Most likely I did forgot something, but please do a search in forum. It should popup some older thread that has the more thru out explanation.

The DVD structure is actually really simple, so there were libraries available pretty quickly to allow other software to use the menu structure etc. BluRay uses a modified Java engine for the interactive content.
