I'm rather liking MP1.2B, but unfortunately I can't use it at the moment as when I stop LiveTV, it causes the resolution of my displays to change from 1280x720 to something like 720x480 and I can't even see the Home menu's sidemenu with the Shutdown/Close buttons and have to close it blindly.

I have replaced my HD3300 IGP with a HD6950 recently but I don't see why that should be causing the problem.

In desperation I've tried updating my drivers to Catalyst 11.4 (plus the southbridge driver) and running with only one display enabled (my TV, connected by DVI), but it hasn't helped.

Fresh logs attached in case they're useful.

OK, this doesn't happen if I use EVR mode or disable Exclusive Mode for VMR9.

On phoneso can't check logs but do you have refresh rate changer enabled? Try turning it off and do you get the same issue?

Never seen such an issue.
I would have the same guess as jameson - Refresh Rate Changer?

Also, which was the previous version you used and did not show that problem?

I was pretty sure I didn't have the Refresh Rate Changer enabled as I have no use for it, but I've checked now and it's definitely disabled.

I was using MP1.2 Alpha before and it never did this. Perhaps it's a fault in the drivers, although 11.2 was working fine with MP1.2A but not with MP1.2B. I'll try wiping the drivers and re-installing sometime.

Just testing again and this time after the display tried to change resolution, I lost signal to both my displays. I had to RDP in and kill MP to sort it out.

There seems to be some relevant errors in the errors.bak in the attached logs. I think I'll try uninstalling MP1.2B and going back to 1.2A to see if the problem shows up in that now, and look at the ATI drivers after that.

Something is really not looking healthy there. Seems like a general system problem (video card seating/drivers, mobo, BIOS) to me!

I think it can only be drivers, as everything's working great in Win7.

After cleaning out and reinstalling Cat 11.4, now every time I reboot it's reset to 720x480! This happens whether I've got Clone mode activated (for my TV and monitor) or just the TV DVI output enabled.

I think I'll try Cat 10.12 as that was working fine with XP before and I'm not planning on doing any gaming under XP.

Well after repeated cycles of safemode-driver sweeper tediousness, yet still my display resetting to 720x480 every boot, I've found that it's OK with only my monitor, but with my TV enabled as well it does this.

Even though under Attributes it shows Max res 1920x1080, under Displays Manager->Displays properties, it only shows 640x480, 720x480, 800x600 and 1280x720 listed for my TV. My monitor shows a long list of resolutions, and so did my TV until now!

Not sure how I'm going to sort this one out.

EDIT: OK, I've managed to sort it so that it boots at the proper res (1280x720) on one or both screens, so I'm making progress (although the missing resolutions in CCC is still bugging me!) Gonna try MP1.2B again and see if everything's working properly now.

    Hi again Doveman

Off the top of my head I vaguely recall seeing a way to add custom resolutions in the Catalyst Control Centre. Have you had a look there? Are we now at a point where we can say that this is not an MP bug?
