Store personal settings profile on server (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Would it be possible to add profiles to the new architecture on MediaPortal with the client/server setup.

What I mean is that if you have one server (TV Engine) and two or more clients you would need to configure each client independently today. It would be great if you upon starting the client would have the choice to load a profile from the server with all client settings so that all clients have the same setting like:
* skin
* picture/movie/music folder setup
* home screen settings
* and so on..

I know you would need to have some settings still on the client for example for the remote as the hardware could be different but all the visualization/personalization could perhaps be stored/loaded on/from a profile on the server?

You could then also have different profiles using different skins with different home options.

What do you think? Good or bad?

I think that's a super idea... if you plan on getting like 20 tv+mediaportal frontends .

I agree!

Loading client settings when installing a new client or copy settings from a previous installation would be greate.

This would also open up a possibility to edit settings from one client and distribute them to other clients.

you could have several profiles stored on the server (all in the DB, so really, you could have as many as you liked) and then these are made available to the client setup. This could really include every client setting currently available.

It might not be a heavily used feature right now, but as more and more poeple build whole-house TV systems (as i intend to do in the future) i think this will become a much more useful feature.

Just thought. It would also make it easier if you are playing around with different front end hardware configurations and re-installing windows/MediaPortal often
