Not sure if anyone has come across a problem like this but at the moment when I run my pc with 720p HD output via DVI, the display looks sharp to begin with then either over time or when I play back movie content the text becomes scewed on the whole desktop and stays this way until I reset the settings to a different resolution and back again.

It will stay clean and clear in windows until I playback media content either via MP or Windows Media Player etc.

I have tried 3 different graphics drivers, I have also repositioned the hardware in my machine to allow more room for the graphics card in case it was a temperature problem.

I have no idea how the timing settings work but yesterday from messing around it seemed to stabalise for a long period of time but has since gone back to this problem even though no settings have changed.

Any help would be appreciated.

OS: Windows XP SP2
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4200
Resolution: 1280 x 720 @ 60hz

Could the fan be seizing, run with the side of the case off (if its safe) just to check all fans are ok.
is there excessive dust that a pressurised air canister can blast out (recomend outdoors for that one).
I'm assuming this has been running fine and it is only now the problems occured. (not mentioning it not DX9 compatible).

I have cleaned the fan but I will try that thanks.

It has been a problem ever since I hooked it up with the DVI output, but it starts off looking fine then it seems if the screen is heavily refreshed with content such as scrolling down a forum screen or playing back movie content then the text on the screen breaks up and stays like that until I change a resolution setting and then back again.

It will even boot up with the text broken up on the screen, it only seems to fix if I do a resolution change.

    What isn't DX9 compatible?

Just to clarify the text is broken up for the whole Windows environment, so that means taskbar, icons, text in software such as MP.

the TI4200 is fully DX8 but not DX9 compliant, not a bad card thou.
Which driver are you using, 9131 i think is the latest, and is it a lcd/plasma your outputting too, and cable type, ie dvi to hdmi, every little helps (Jesus doing a ASDA advert).

Would the DX9 compatibility affect every part of the Windows environment though?

It's not just MP that is affected by this problem.

I'm currently using the new 9131 driver yes, although I've tried many older ones also to see if it was a driver issue. When I reverted back to the old ones I made sure to uninstall the new ones.

It's connected to a Philips 32PF5520 via a DVI to DVI lead, running a resolution of 1280 x 720p @ 60hz, all defaulted from choosing the 720p HDTV setting in the graphics driver software.

I have also tried various settings other than the default ones and have the same problem.

This problem only occurs on the DVI output as I have cloned it to two screens and the CRT monitor displays no problem.

I just don't want to have to buy a new graphics card if I can help it and especially not if it's not the actual card that's faulty as it would be a waste of money to buy a new card and find I still have the same problem, I doubt a shop would let me take the new card back if it didn't solve the problem.
