I have setup Mediaportal (latest version) with the above hardware. Wy thought is to be able to stream my cable channels on my laptop using TV Server and Mediaportal Client.
All is up and running, I can connect to the media server both over the internet (the name of the server has gone into the hosts-file with it's IP. TV Server name has been changed from IP to the computer name etc).
I get the EPG on the client, can select a channel and it starts paying. All is fine I thought, happy days.
But then, when I have watched the stream for 60 seconds it freeze. Just the stream.
I can hit enter, get the EPG and select another channel. Then that channel will stream for 60 seconds and then hang.
For testing purposes I added the plugin "Stream TV 2", to be able to stream to VLC as well. When I connect to a stream in vlc using that plugin, it just goes on and on and on until I stop it manually. This leads me to the cconclusion that the tv card is fine and the TV Server service itself is working fine.
When the stream hangs, nothing is logged in the error log on the server either. The client disappears as a client in the Streaming Server tab in the TV Server Setup when the stream hangs.
I have tried this on two different clients, with the exact same result. Both client systems also run Windows 7/64 bit.
The laptop I'm using is connected on the local network on the same subnet as the TV Server, so there's no issue with my external firewall.
Has anyone else seen this? Can someone give me a hint on how to continue my investigation into finding the problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point, as I am really stuck and have gone through the forum searching for info but can't find anyone else seeing this problem.
