Hi All,

I'm currently using Monochrome as my skin, but in some previous post people have talked about using StreamedMP instead.

What does this offer over Monochrome (is it purely visual, or is there some functionality in there too)?

Is there anywhere where these can be previewed before downloading and installing (i know that the download facility from the Home page does not include all of the plugins / skins, but not sure why)?

For info I'm using MovingPictures and TVseries plugins.

Thanks.

:)

I was using Monochrome & swapped to StreamedMP. It's ace.

Here's their webpage, check the gallery out & decide what layout you want for fanart in tvseries & movingpictures before you install, cos unlike other skins you cant change all the plug=ins layouts once installed (you can re-install & change them if you need to though).

Despite this flaw, & one other minor gripe in that you cant download info & artwork 'live' inside the skin in Moving Pictures (dont know why), it's easily the best skin I've tried (& I've tried almost every one now!).

It looks polished, complete & professional. In short, it looks like you spent a lot of money on it & works very, very well too.

Okay, taken the plunge and so far it looks and works great - thanks!

One thing that has me stumped - how can i select whether the Basic Home Menu or the default (name?) comes up by default. I've renamed the My Videos to My Family Films, but it's not showing up on the new StreamedMP menu, just stays at My Videos.

Also, have you worked out what the StreamedMP config tol actually does / how to change it???

One more thing - I've done a complete new install, downloaded all the latest apps, skins and plugins, and it still says that my skin is out of date on startup???

    Hi there :)

You said renamed My Videos. Where/how did you do that? You can use the supplied menu editor to create your own menu with your own text stings.

Regarding the outdated message, what version of MP do you use? Maybe attach logs if unsure.

Go into MediaPortal Configuration & select General. The first box you can tick/untick is start with basic home.

It wont change the name inside Basic Home unless you go into Streamed MP Editor (through your start menu) & change in there. I simply start in the normal home, I find it easier & prefer that layout.

Regards the out of date message, it's cos it's looking for the latest SVN build. Go into C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\skin\StreamedMP & open references.xml with notepad & change

    <version>1.0.0.4</version>

    To
    <version>1.0.0.0</version>

It's about 4 lines down. Back the references.xml file up first elsewhere in case you fuck something up, then you can just copy the backup over & try again.

Go into MediaPortal config, then plug ins, then MyFilms config. Top right hand corner you see 'MP's Menu Plugin Name' change that to rename it.

Yeah :) I was actually trying to find out what the poster did that did not work. He tried to rename MyVideos, not MyFilms.

    Hi,

I changed the name in the MP config tool, Videos, Video Folder. I edited the film share folder and renamed it to "Family Films". This doesn't have any effect on either menu. Ideally I'd like to use the normal StreamedMP menu (not the Basic menu system) but I still trying to get over these initial teething problems.

Go into MediaPortal Configuration & select General. The first box you can tick/untick is start with basic home.

    Hi there :)

I've edited the xml file as described, but I'm on version 1.0.0.3 according to the file, even though i only downloaded today?!?

Yes that name will only show in the Video SHARES view.

If you do not want to use the basic home menu, you will have to change the stings_en.xml (provided you use english). Not sure what else use this string though.

    File located in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\language

    Change "Videos" in this line:
    <String id="3" prefix="My ">Videos</String>

    Sorry, should've read more carefully!

Then you need to change it version 1.0.0.3 in the xml then.

How do i get the My Videos to appear in the normal menu? I want this in addition to My Movies / Moving Pictures as I've used My Videos to separate my family films.

Scrap that - it now appears.
