I often see the question "where is the stream transcoded?"
The answer: the server streams, the client decodes.

I have the suggestion to add some options to change this a litte bit.
There is no solution to watch tv over the internet because of the limited upload bandwith. I would like to see an option to tell the server to resize the stream to for example 320x240 or change bitrate and so on.
Maybe this would be enough to stream it over the internet. Not the best quality but enough for news in holiday or something like that.

What do you think about that? Is this possible and would you like to see such an option?
It's surely not easy and I don't believe we will see that in near future, but maybe I could inspire you.
Thanks for your time :)

Although I have - quite some time ago - modified MPTVClient to remotely start VLC, which then transcodes the stream to a lower bandwidth to be watchable over internet, this is a quite cumbersome solution. In short: I would really love to see this option directly in TVServer - with a possibility for MPTVClient to choose the bitrate remotely!

I think this has been sugested as a MP2 feature. The current MP codebase just isn't designed to offer this , although with the TVServer this is much more feasable.

Only fiarly minor features are going to be added to MP1 now, it's all about bug fixes. All the big changes are going to MP2.
