I'm new to mediaportal and trying to get a multiseats configuration working... I'm quite knowledgeable in computers, but not familiar with mediaportal. I have been a user of Media Center since 2006.

I'm using version 1.1 alpha

I have TV-Server only, working 100% (so I believe) on Windows 7 RTM.

I have TV-Client only on Vista SP2, where my probles are

I'm pretty sure everything is configured and working well onto the server, since I've been able to make a manual recording, and EPG is showing correctly on client... And preview channels also show correctly.

Since I can see the Program guide on the client PC, I believe that MySql 5.1 connection is working properly.

I've configured Streaming-IP on TV-Server as the LAN IP adress of TV-Server. But my client never show-up when it's trying to access TV Server.

Server HDD as lots and lots of space left, Client is almost full.

I've even tried disabling firewall on both computers, to no success

Here are the symptoms:

- As soon as I click on "TV On" or on a show currently being broadcast in TV Guide, MediaPortal just freeze where it was, and I have to use task manager and kill it.

Is there something I forgot, or required that I wansn't aware of? I'm pretty sure it's a connection problem, but can't figure it out...

So any suggestion would be welcome!

Edit:

TsReader log, wich shows at wich point the program crashes:

I'm also struggling to stream TV to a 2nd PC .... I get the error

Unable to play stream2.3 (or any other number 2.0, 3.0 etc)
Audio codec: (nothing shown)

I've reinstalled the machines many times

Have you checked the server is streaming on port 554
Have you checked firewall disabled or passing all relevant ports (not just 554)

I think your PC also have to have Windows Media Streaming Service running - not sure if its client and server or just one. Its NOT enabled by default on a fresh XP install - I should know.. I've reinstalled about 5 times so far with MP to make sure its a fresh clean system and same probs every time.

Hope that helps

Well, for my part, I've solved the problem... My Media Portal system works a 100%

Unfortunately, I can't remember whether I did figure out what was wrong or not.... It's been quite some time for me! But if I'm correct, I never knew what I did to make it work.... Since then, I use Media Portal and FortTheRecord, and everything works very well, Very plesased!

The only thing I'm trying to figure out now, is to find something to stream TV, Recordins and/or videos over the internet, something that would get the bitrate down by converting on the fly, or something like that....

However, it's another subject, and it doesn't concern this topic!
