All,

This software looks great, but it could be better if we don't need to install a software
just for the subtitle.

Media Portal should handle the subtitles without any additional software.

And it could be very usefull if we don't need to install any codes for basic things(divx, xvid, music). for example use the Mplayer for this. Opensource software as well, and it don't need to install different codecs.

Thanks,

But you need to install ffdshow as well. I f you use Mplayer for that, you don't need to install anything else. Like codecs, ffdshow..

I like this software because it is an integrated media center, that is why I tried to use. But mplayer is much better for video playing.

It means that I can not uninstall it and use just one player....

:sorry:

If you use mplayer, you don't have the integration MP gives. You already said that. It is a matter of choice. FFDShow has reached a level where it does most of the things it does in quite a nice way. The only extra needed, would be a good H264 codec. Then you are set.

mPlayer is just a player. I love MPC also, but in the end of the day, it is "just a player". MP is much more than this.

Your choice.

So I am :sorry: too.

You have right, but the integration is good, because I just would like
to install one software for Audio/Video. And that software should play all of the video, audio format. For example the MP should contain mov, rm, divx, xvid codecs
or some alternative codecs. And it is still one software.

That is what I realy would like to see. One software without any other software and it is good for almost everything.

If you disagree just tell me and I try to understand everything.

I realy love to learn from everybody who can tell me facts and logical things.

Thanks your answers..

Well, you're missing completely the point WHY the codecs were created. They were created so YOU have a choice which software plays what.
I don't see the point of your complaints. Just install FFDshow after you installed MP and you're all set. Forcing all users to use FFDshow should not be a part of regular MP setup.

And yes I disagree (ifezs), because this would force MP to maintain a plethora of CODECs (reinvent the wheel) and debug those too...

The whole point of directshow filters is for you to choose which is the best.
If you want someone else to choose which is the best, install some CODEC pack (something I DO NOT recomend) or FFDShow.

What I would like to see in fact, is that MP gets less closely related to WMP and more closely connected directly to directshow (and have settings to select codec for any file type not just for MPEG2 files).
