    Hi,

I use MP with a server (with singleseat) and several clients. With all of it's faults, this setup still lets me use media in a way that no other setup really could.

I love being able to centrally set things in TV server and have the clients pick up on it and just work.

I hate configuring everything again and again on different clients, closing MP and getting told off by my wife and children.

I think that EVERYTHING should be centrally configured through a MP server, not just TV.

TV and radio logos for instance. Could these be centrally stored?

Setting default groups for each client (eg. kid's TV, kitchen TV all set cenrally). "No more telly for you me lad" etc.

Video, picture and music shares, all referenced by network names and not IP addresses, so why not configure on the server? Different permissions set per client in the style of an FTP server perhaps.

weather plugin in server, 'cause you usually have client and server in different towns.

I think that most things could be set in this way and the clients could then be just that and the server could, um, serve!

    Just some thoughts anyway.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Very very very good idea i second that.

I am running a TV server whit some neighbors, for about 15~20 clients if you count normal PCs and laptop's that have MP running to.

So yes this would make my life so mouths easier ;)

Good idea, but it wont happen for 1.0.x. MPII should be handling the client server structure much nicely and at least some of the settings will be able to be shared.

I sure this has been suggested before. It's something I would love to see happen.

Even go as far as having a small launcher app on the clients that pull the latest/current version of MediaPortal from the server. For example, say MP 2.1.1 is released and you install that on the server over 2.1.0, when any of your clients connect the launcher app detects sees the new version and pulls it over the network. Saving you from having to go round all your clients installing the new version. On a whole house setup, this would be invaluable :)
