Having come from xbmc, one thing i like about it was its ability to fetch all the information about movies/tv episodes from local files rather than having to do lookups etc. This meant if the database got corrupted etc or you have multiple installations it doesn't have to go and get all the info from the internet yet again.

I am wondering if it would be possible for this plugin to support the format used by xbmc.
Basically an xml file either named movie.nfo in the directory of each movie or filename.nfo which matches the filename of the movie.

Inside this file it has all the info you can dream of, all the actors, the ratings etc etc.
The beauty is that there are lots of 3rd party programs that produce these formats, mediacompanion, MIP etc etc.

It wouldn't be too hard to add and would make this plugin even greater!
Those external programs also write out, fanart.jpg and movie.tbn, it would be nice to see an option to support them also.

If you can scan these it would save a lot of time, allow us to use external programs and make multiple installations on other pc's a lot easier

an update to the scraper system in 0.8 (Enable Scraper To Read Text-based Files Locally) will provide you and scripts authors with the possibility to create and use "local scrapers" to get that information. Script authors can then create dataproviders for any local 3rd party output. This includes scripts for covers, backdrops and movie details.
