This happened with two different SVN builds I tried to install over 1.0. I run the installer and the installation progress bar gets to what appears to be 100% and then it crashes and the standard Windows XP crash window that asks if you want to send the error report or not opens up. I forget the version SVN I tried a month or so ago, but the version that doesn't work now is build 22029.

Sorry if this came up before, but some of the threads I found when I searched were in German (I think). I only know English, so I'm not sure if they were the same problem or not.

I'm not sure where to find log files of a failed installation, are there even any made?

Is there anything unusual about your installation, ie not using c:

Logs can always be collected by using the logs collector from start menu\team-mediaportal

This happened with two different SVN builds I tried to install over 1.0.

Does the currently installed MP work at all? If not, then I would suggest, uninstalling everything as a clean up. Then install MP 1.0, then install the SVN version over the top WITHOUT uninstalling anything.

This is the only method that works for me (without giving errors when run or complaints about missing code, etc) with the various SVN releases and Disaster's release.

1.0 works fine. I also read a bunch of threads suggesting to install the SVNs on a "clean install" of 1.0. So I did a full uninstallation of 1.0. Then I reinstalled it, and tried to install the SVN again and got the same error.

There shouldn't be anything unusual about my installation, it is installed in the default "c:\program files\team mediaportal\" directory.

I'm at work right now, but I will try to use the log collector when I get home.

Almost forgot, thanks for the suggestions!

That's the error that comes up in the Application Events Log, does that tell anyone anything. It looks like gibberish to me, and the "faulting module unknown" seems promising...

That's what comes up when I tried installing an older SVN.

Just in case this helps, I tried to install Mediaportal and then the latest SVN on another computer in my house. I got the same results. Here are the specs of the second computer:

    Windows XP Pro SP3

    AMD Athlon 64 4800 2.4Ghz

    2 GB Ram

    NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS

    Video Driver Version: 6.14.0011.8208

    SB X-Fi Audio [AC00]

    Soundcard Driver: 6.00.0001.1283

I don't know what to suggest. Two different PCs with the same results, would point the finger at the SVN install - maybe a corrupt download?

Where did you get your SVN? Have you tried downloading another copy and trying with that?

I've tried to install 3 different SVNs all with the same result. I downloaded them from the Download link in their respective SVN forum threads.

About a week ago AVG antivirus broke Firefox, and it took me forever to figure out that was it, so I even uninstalled AVG and tried to install the SVN build.

I miss my Mediaportal.:( I am just really surprised I get this on two different computers and apparently no one else has seen this. That makes me think I'm doing something wrong.
