Hello.

I would like to present my system to give swedish people a hint on what can be done.

Hardware:

PC #1: "database server"
CPU Intel Core 2 duo E8400 3GHz
MEM 1,5Gb
HD 500 Gb

PC #2 "Mediaportal server"
CPU P4 3.0GHz
MEM 2Gb
HD 500 Gb (3 partitions, boot, timeshift and record)
TV1 Twinhan AD-TP300(3030) CI
TV2 Twinhan AD-TP300(3030) CI
TV3 Terratec Cinergy T USB XXS (only FTA)
Hardware cardsharing solution

PC #3 "Mediaportal client"
Case mini-ITX solution
CPU Atom 330 (all integrated solution on a mini-itx board)
MEM 3Gb
GFX Nvidia ION
HD 60Gb
display 42 LCD-TV HDMI

Description of swedish DVB-T system:
The swedish DVB-T system is using 5 transponders (called multiplexors in DVB-T) with 5-8 channels each.

Setup:
Mediaportal is installed as client and server. The server is using MySQL on another machine (PC#1).
All FTA channels are mapped to the USB TV-card without CA.

All channels are mapped to the two other tv-cards with a hardware card sharing solution.

All three cards are capable of multi channel decoding. There is no problem to record four channels with one tv-card as long as they are on the same MUX.

XMLTV is used to grap EPG 10 days ahead.

HDTV specs:
There is no problem to watch SVTHD, the only HDTV channel right now. (720p)
And there is no problem to watch full-HD movies and Blue-ray on the ION solution, amazing. :p

Problems:If I record alot of movies at once, sometimes MP makes mistakes and stop ongoing recordings that should not be stopped.

Question, write them and I will try to answer them.

Sorry, i don't know if i can ask here, but why do you use a server for database and one for streaming?

MP use DB for tvguide and?

    thanks ;)

Same question from me - why use a dedicated db server (that draws power as well..)?
I use pretty much the same config as you - but two multi seat clients (1 ION and 1 old PC for the kids).

But I use my server as main client as well - having it in another room - using HDMI & SPDIF & USB extenders over Cat5 (Gefen stuff).

Another question - what kind of card sharing are you using? (Probably not allowed anymore is it?)

I alredy have a server with mysql on it, so I decided to use it.

The hardware card sharing solution is bought at http://www.cardsplitter.nu/

Pnyberg, I see that you also have more than one tv-card in your server.

Do you have any problems with that?
    How do map your channels?

I have a big problem with my setup that it will sometimes choose a bussy tv-card when starting up a scheduled recording, so it silently drops the old one and go with the new one.

One quick solution would be to divide the channels between the three tv-card, but then I will loose some flexibility.
But maybe it is the way it should be done in the first place??
