Started on: 2007-01-10 last update: 2007-01-10 Summary: Mediaportal could switch the display resolution on startup to a given value, when it is started in fullscreen mode. Area: Description: Now, Mediaportal runs very nice for me. And I started thinking about picture quality. My HTPC is connected via HDMI with the TV. Normaly I run 720p resolution. It is good for desktop use. But with TV I have some trouble: I am missing some sharpness in the picture. This is because scaling happens two times in my configuration. Fist time the HTPC scales the PAL image to 720p. The second time the TV scales the image to its panel resolution (1366x768). Second thing is, the TV does not accept 1:1 pixel mapping. So I must use a standard resolution. If I switch to 576p or 576i the picture becomes much besser. Thats clear. Because scaling now happens only one times in the TV. But for desktop use 576p oder 576i is not that nice. Especially if one can use HD resolutions. The idea was, that Mediaportal could do a thing, that much games do. Switching the resolution on startup to a given value. So one can have HD resolution for desktop use and best possible picture for TV use. Switching would happen automatic. For example desktop resolution is normaly 1280x720. And if Mediaportal starts it switches to 720x576. This schould only happen, if it is started in fullscreen mode. Regards
