Hello

I have installed Media Portal successfully. I have then added the Moving Pictures plugin. I have then run the configuration for Moving Pictures and that has discovered all of my fanart/movie art.

Problem = I cannot get Moving Pictures Database to update/sync with media portal to update the fanart/movie art.
Is this possible with Moving Pictures? If so how do I do this?

Thanks in advance

Are you asking how to use Moving Pictures fan-art in MyVideos? If so that is not possible and I think it is highly unlikely we will implement such a feature. I have said many times that if the MyVideo guys want help integrating this feature into MyVideos, I would point them in the right direction, but Moving Pictures is a stand alone plug-in, separate from MyVideos.

If you are not aware, you should be able to access Moving Pictures in the GUI from the plug-in menu by default.

thanks fforde
I will look for another plugin/fix that may be able to do this as I have 500+ movies and manually adding them all will be very time consuming...
Loving MP though!

Moving pictures grabs the movie information + cover art + fan art all by itself. THere is nearly no work needed. 98% goes correct all by itself. THis is ofcourse if you have 'normal' movies which are named correctly.

Yes moving Pictures has done that correctly as you described but I also want the cover art + fan art replicated in Media Portal as want this as a one stop shop to all my media needs. (or am i missing something...)

I think the missing something is quite common.

Moving Pictures is designed to do everything (and more) with MOVIES that My Videos does
My TV Series is designed to do everything (and more) with TV SERIES that My Videos does
mvids is designed to do everything (and more) with MUSIC VIDEOS that My Videos does.

In my case I only use My Videos for stuff that doesn't really fit into one of the above (PhotoStory files for example, or Home Movies)

The key ot it all is to use database views rather than share views wherever possbile and allow the various plugins to do what they were designed to do.

    HTH.

PS Am I right in thinking that you have not actuall accessed the MovingPictures plugin inside MediaPortal - only in configuration. If that is so it would explain your confusion and also give you a very pleasant surprise when you do. In configuration you cna specify for it to appear in homescreen rather than plugins as well, makes it much more accessible

I think you have this confused, MovingPictures replaces the My Videos pluign in MP for most people. You just install the plugin and configure it. In the MP config you can make it show up in the home screen just like My Videos and most of the work is done for you.

Does that clear things up a bit?

I keep the Videos plugin for Music Videos/Concerts and then use Moving Pictures for Movies and TV Series for TV series :)

Have you tried mvids for Music Videos - brilliant!

druid9 - Thanks for your reply you have explained exactly what I couldn't understand - "Am I right in thinking that you have not actuall accessed the MovingPictures plugin inside MediaPortal - only in configuration" - YES.
I will set about configuring Moving Pictures when I return from work.

Is there anywhere that has step by step explanations of the most popular Media Portal plugins/apps/features?

I am a noob to Media Portal and finding your feet with the program is a little tricky since the majority of users in the forums are advanced users talking about coding etc...

Thanks also to jacc1234 for your response.
