System restore to revert back? (1 Viewer)

I have 0.2.3.0 running perfectly, but I'd like to install 1.0. If I have problems, how can I revert back to my previous install?
Should I set a restore point in WinXP & revert to that, or should I backup my current install, install 1.0 & if I have problems, delete the 1.0 folder & rename the 0.2.3.0 folder?

Do you still have the original 0.2.3.0 installer, if not get it from here http://garr.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/mediaportal/MediaPortal_0.2.3.0_Setup.exe

Copy the whole folder to a new backup location, if I remember correctly, all settings where originally self contained within this folder.

Uninstall and then install MP1.0
