Is there a way to add a auto generated table of contents to long wiki pages? I find the infos in "Chapter 3: Configuration" of the manual very helpful, but the pages are very long. A auto index with links for pages with more than three level 1/2 headings would be very helpful:

    Advantages:
    • Jump directly to area of intrest with a click
    • Link to sections in long pages.
    • Pointing users to a specific subject in the manual would be easier

I was reading sth. about a patch here:
    http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/MoinMoinPatch/AutoTableOfContents

Could this be implemented in the wiki installation? Or is sth like that already available as a feature?

i do not like these "automatic" features, since it takes away some control when writing pages.
in the many cases it would only show 3 - 5 entries which doesnt look "that good". :)

the manual index you are refering too is structured like a printed manual.
it only contains links to the pages where the feature is discribed. thats the intention.

on other pages like the ::FAQ:: which contain _a lot_ of text / infos we are using the [[TableOfContents]] command to generate what you suggested. :)
