The sound of Deafening static (AC3) (1 Viewer)

Occasionaly when playing some movie files, upon pressing play, the movie begins to play, but I'm greeted with the sound of deafening static, full volume - it's fair to say it scares the pants off you every,single,time!

I've had a look at some of the troublesome files, and it appears that it's related to the AC3 audio codec.

I've checked ffdshow and it says that it's using liba52, if I change this to SP/Dif it fixes the problem, but then there's no sound at all!!

I would suggest trying MPA audio codec for movies and AC3Filter for Live TV. Before u register both of those filters please uninstall ffdaudio.

brilliant - you're right, it was a codec problem, I've bypassed ffdshow with another app.... I forget it's name, if i'll re-post once I can access the PC again (wife is watching Skins)
