Timeshift Crashes Media Portal (1 Viewer)

It took me a while to work out what was causing this but whenever I went into 'My TV' the PC would freeze for ~2 mins then start playing whatever channel it was supposed to and stop accepting input from the keyboard or mouse (for mediaportal, alt-ctrl-del still worked)
So the tv station keeps running but I need to 'end task' on mediaportal to stop it.
I figured out that by disabling 'timeshift' I can get it all working fine, but if I'm to push pause on the remote the same thing happens.
In addition when using 'end task' to get out of media portal the machine blue-screens with a zulucap.sys error and reboots.
I've tried updating to version 3.68.04 of the TV-card driver and this didn't fix it. (was using earlier 3.6x version before)
I've gone into the mediaportal configuration and changed the folder the card uses to save recorded television to a different path/partition - this doesn't fix the problem either.
Any ideas of what else I can try?

I suggest you abandon the in-built TV engine (TVE-2) and use the TV Server (TVE-3) instead. TVE-2 is no longer supported and TVE-3 works much better - faster channel changes, no DVR-MS files to deal with and it is fully supported.

I realise that it is a bit more mucking about having to install another database, but it is worth it ... :)

Okay doing that prompted me to install the dvbfix (sic?) because of an outdated DLL and once I'd done all that it worked fine. Thankyou!

So, are you now using TVE-3, or are you still on TVE-2 and it was the dvbfix that solved the problem?

I switched from the built-in TV support to a TV-Server install both from 1.0.1.0 does that answer your question? I'm guessing that the dvbfix was the solution but it wasn't pointed out as a problem by media portal until I'd installed the TV server. Hope that makes sense

I am having the same problem and can't record anything either, I get the same behaviour as apoptygma. Taipan, where did you get the idea TVE2 is not supported? I can't find anywhere where it says this. If inbuilt TV is broken for timeshifting and recording, shouldn't the installer tell you this when you are selecting inbuilt TV? And why is there a bug report and fix reported here 0002119: Timeshifting is broken - MediaPortal Bugtracker if it is no longer supported?

    Hello!
Of course TV-2 is still supported... i dont know why it shouldnt be since many people are having troubles with TV-Server... ( explained at least 6 issues in another thread with 1.0 (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ortal-1-0-unstable-6-issues-51228/#post350202)

But again to the problem.. i am exactly observing the same with 1.0.1.0... even after a clean winxp sp3 install! (latest Skystar 2 WDM or BDA driver...) when timeshift is disabled everything works just fine... when enabling Timeshift it stuck vor 2-3 min.(black screen... no input reactions) and even after these 2-3 minutes i cannot control the mediaportal! This problem did not occur in 1.0!

The dvbfix should not be the solution since without the DVBFix you would not have been able to do the channelscan in configurator.exe.... again i went back to my stable 0.2.3 version :p but still! Anyone able to figure out whats happening and maybe FIX that ? :)

    Greetings

    FabWa

    edit:

sry its already a fixed issue :
