    Hi,

Just edited one album and saved data to disc. While title information is displayed correctly within MPTagThat, the saved data are displayed in Chinese characters when looking at with the Windows Explorer :-(

As this would be a major bug I am obviously the only one who is experiencing this. I have no particular settings other than the file name, which is set to <K>_<T>_<A>_<B>.

Ok, had a look at your files.
The tag frames in the original file are ISO 8859-1 encoded.
When writing tags from within MPTagthat, i use Unicode encoding, so that i don't have any troubles with e.g. Greek, Cyrillic, etc.

For some reason, i put a "00" between the encoding indicator for the frame. So instead of having "FFFE" i have "FF00FE", which causes the "FE" being interpreted as the first character of the frame information. And this causes the Chinese chars to appear.

To find the cause for this error will take me more time than i have at the moment.
Leaving for a weeks business trip on MOnday evening and need to prepare myself for that over the weekend, but i will definitely look into that.

What you can do as a workaround at the moment is to Remove all tags using the MPTagThat "Delete Tags" function.
then do one of the following:

    1. Use Filename to Tag function and insert the missing fields, like year, albumartist, etc.
    2. Use Internetlookup to identify the tracks via Amazon
    3. use Identify Files to identify the files via Musicbrainz

All of the above will cause correct tags to be written.

    regards,

    Helmut

    Alright,

Rather than using workarounds I would prefer to revert back to the previous version. Now it seems than only the most recent revision is available. Is there a place where I can find the old one?

    Thanks, HTPC_Sourcer

I'm afraid that the previous version would do the same.
There is no difference in the 2 version on how those files are stored.
However you can give it a try, if you like: Version 1.1

    no, not yet.
did some investigation and it would probably require some modification to the underlying taglib-sharp, which needs to be done carefully, as i may destroy the file, if not done carefully.
