MPEG2 Video Codec:

Hi All,
I would like to compress some of my recorded tv to Xvid. The prompt under MyTV tells me that i need to get the Elecard decoder to transcode the recorded TV. Could some one point me to which version I need and how to install it?
http://www.elecard.com/download/

Would I be better sticking with an external encoder like AVI.net?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

nw.

OK, I might be going off-topic here, but:
The Elecard codec is commercial, right?

Is it not possible to use other, free encoders? Like AutoGK, Dr.DivX (which is now open source - or do you need DivX PRO?)

Could it be that you need to set the desired transcoding codec in the relevant MP Configuration?

Use the transcoder plugin. Don't mess with the internal compression method. Don't waste your money on the Elecard Decoder because it's not even the right version that works with MediaPortal.

Does it work with 0.2.2.0? (Says maybe in the plugin thread).
