Goal:
Play music on Mediaportal and others computers play the same song. MediaPortal is the master, others computers are slaves.
(In fact slaves play the same then the output of the master soundcard).

Needed:
VLC (tested with 0.9.4)

On the Master:
0) Open VLC
1) Go to File > Open Capture Device, this will open the DirectShow tab
2) "Refresh list" and select your sound card as the audio device
3) Maybe need to activeted "stereo mix" in configuration
4) Down, there is an arrow, click on it then "stream"
5) Select your usual stream setting (I use UDP multicast, 192.168.1.3:1234, this is the IP of the second computer. I don't have more computer so I c'an't try a real multicast. Maybe someone knows the setting for multicast for two or more slaves)
6) Tick "audio codec" and leave the settings as-is
7) Play sound in MediaPOrtal or TV show or what you want

On slave:
0) Open VLC
1)OPen network...
2)select UDP, and the IP adress of the computer
3) Listen

Maybe it's possible to read the stream of the slave in MediaPortal but I never tried.

There is a delay but I can't resolve this problem.

It's possible to make a shortcut with this config.
0) In vlc click on "more options" on the down
1) Copy the paramters line, (ex : :sout=#transcode{vcodec=mp1v,vb=800,scale=1}:duplicate{dst=std{acc...}})
2) Create a shortcut "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" paramter.....

PS: I use the french version of VLC so maybe translation is not exact
