    Hi!

I've never played a mkv file before - only HDTV where everything is OK. But when i try to play a mkv file the screen is only green and blocky?

    Using HD 3200 onboard + Cat 10.2

    Anybody any idea?

    Stefan

Use graphstudio to ascertain which codec is in use, then update or reinstall it, or try a alternative ie xvid\divx\ffdshow, if that does not work then might look at being a driver problem.

Just did a search and it looks like this may be a ATI driver problem after all, try using a older one, check out SAF thread and see which one hoborg recommends in his first post.

AW: tried to play my first mkv :) but the whole picture is green !?!

seems really to be a driver issue - this time whole system gaves me a bluescreen with an error in atiXXX.sys :-(

only chance is to use a software based decoding like DivX :-(

....or MPC-HC/FFDShow H.264 filters in software decode mode (disable DXVA) - they both use the ffmpeg-mt decoder which is multi-threaded and pretty good on CPU load.
