Hello there. On a completely new setup I am having trouble playing x264 mkv files. No matter what decoder configuration I try, I only hear the audio and see a still screen garbled with bits of the Media Portal interface. In fullscreen mode I always see mkverror.PNG and in windowed mode I always see mkverror2.PNG (no matter which mkv I play). I also attached an example of a graph, but as I said, I already tried many different decoder combinations. I tried a full ffdshow graph, I tried PowerDVD only and also other combinations. I also tried everything suggested in this thread: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/general-support-51/tutorial-playing-mkv-files-33662/

But still, the outcome is always the same, I only see this garbled screen. I have no idea where to tackle this problem. On other systems I use the same configuration (Haali + CoreAVC for example) and I never experienced such issues there. The mkv files are playing fine in Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic Home Cinema, even if I try to recreate the graph of Media Portal in Media Player Classic Home Cinema (Haali - CoreAVC - VMR 9).

It doesn't seem codec related, at least not directly. And the mediaportal log also doesn't show any errors, as far as I can see.

Update: I tried switching from VMR9 to EVR. In EVR I can actually see the video. When I switch back to VMR9 again, I can see a garbled frame of the video and not just from the MP interface. So it looks like this is a renderer issue, possibly a driver issue (it looks like the frame buffer simply doesn't get updated in VMR9).

// edit: ok, installing Catalyst Display Driver 9.6 instead of 9.7 fixed the problem :). Maybe just a reinstall of 9.7 would also have helped, but I'll try that some other time.

// edit2: a few others have encountered this problem too now and in every case installing 9.6 instead of 9.7 helped. It definitely looks like Catalyst Driver 9.7 is not compatible with MediaPortal for h.264 playback right now.
