I am at a what you could call an almost complete loss, after removing medaportal and trying a few other different pieces of PVR software I am back yet again. I have my tv guide pulling from schedules direct correctly, my hd home run is working as advertised, but the problem lies on the analog side, I have my channels mapped to both cards and have even gone as far as setting up SAF as best I could, but the problem is when I select a show from my guide that is an analog channel it selects and then hangs at a black screen wich I am able to navigate away from. Any ideas as to the root of my problem or possible solutions?

    Hi HudsonHawk04

    Your logs are quite long which makes it hard to see what you're trying to do. It would really help if you could clear your logs before posting. Having said that, there are a few things that stand out and a few questions that I'd like to ask...

    1. It looks like you have only tried your ATI tuner. What happens if you try your Hauppauge tuner?

    2. The preloading on both your analog cards appears to go okay apart from the following section for your Hauppauge card:

    Code:
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.225201 [TVService(5)]: Set new video format to: NTSC_M
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.225201 [TVService(5)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Brightness to value: 0
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.225201 [TVService(5)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Contrast to value: 128
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.225201 [TVService(5)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Hue to value: 0
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.225201 [TVService(5)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Saturation to value: 128
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.225201 [TVService(5)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Sharpness to value: 3
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.225201 [TVService(5)]: Set Framerate to 25 succeeded
    2010-11-06 19:46:10.240801 [TVService(5)]: SetFrameSize:  FAILED to set:-2147467259

    Some of those settings, especially the brightness and hue settings look a bit suspicious, as does the frame size failure. It might be a good idea to check that your video standard, frame rate, and frame size all match. In other words, if your video standard is NTSC then make sure you have selected the 29.97 fps frame rate and one of the NTSC frame sizes.

    3. The logs show that timeshifting starts successfully. Have you checked whether the timeshifting files are created and whether they will play in another application (for example, VLC)?

    4. What codecs are you using? Maybe try some other codecs...

    I am using the SAF 4.0 codec pack : https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...dalone-filters-dxva-ready-h-264-vc-1-a-44614/
    What other codec packs would you recomend?
    by trying my Hauppauge tuner I am assuming you mean switch it to primary? I will check my frame rate and what not again I am assuming that is in the tv server setup? I will tinker with it and report back. As far as the length of the logs sorry about that I posted a complete log file.

    I have gone though and removed the codec pack, tweaked the frame rate to where it should be to 27.9 and video standard is set to NTSC. I also changed the order of my capture capture cards so the Hauppauge care is above the ati. attached is my latest log, thanks for all your help guys.

    Hi again HudsonHawk04

    There is nothing wrong with SAF so far as I know. Just wondered what codecs you're using for mpeg 2 video and mpeg/ac3 audio in MediaPortal configuration->Codecs and Renderer->TV Codecs...

    You have done something right with your tinkering already because there are no more errors in the Hauppauge preloading:

    Code:
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set new video format to: NTSC_M
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Brightness to value: 0
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Contrast to value: 128
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Hue to value: 0
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Saturation to value: 128
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set VideoProcAmp - Sharpness to value: 3
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set Framerate to 29.97 succeeded
    2010-11-07 12:05:20.989196 [(22)]: Set Framesize to 720x480 succeeded

    I'd advise sticking with NTSC, 29.97 and 720x480.
    Now you want to look at the brightness, contrast and hue settings. They're on the next tab over called "VideoProAmp". You want all of these settings to be somewhere in the middle of the scale. I don't know if settings are comparable but mine are:

    Brightness = 128
    Contrast = 64
    Hue = 128
    Saturation = 64
    Sharpness = 8

    Got to run. Let me know how you get on...

    I reinstalled the SAF codec pack and am running : MPEG-2 decoder-ffdshow video decoder and mpeg/ac3 audio- ffdshow audio decoder. When I put the codecs back in place and try to watch tv I now get the following error- Unable to play:live7-0.ts.tsbuffer
    should I remove the codecs again or just try to tackle the error? dose it matter that I am running 7 enterprise on this machine?

    Leave the codecs as they are for the moment and try playing the timeshifting file in another application. It would be helpful to see new logs. Please delete the old logs before testing to keep the logs as short as possible ;)

    Hi again

    I'm happy to continue to try helping you. I was waiting for you to let me know if the timeshifting file was created and could be opened in another application. Without that information I have no way of helping you any further. If you don't understand what I'm asking then just say so and I'll try and explain in more detail or give more precise instructions for testing this...
