Hello. I want to use media portal as a replacmetnt to VMC, and have always had trouble getting it to work. Now after 4 hours I finally got it working, but now in configuration.exe (With and without administrator mode) it doesnt detect my tuner.
I do not know what type of tuner I have (Got it from my dads pc, a Dell Inspiron 530, if that helps) bt it uses the ATI Unified AVStream Driver.

Is there any way to make it work?
Other apps such as VMC and sage tv detect it, but i dont want to use either of those.

Thank you.

With TVServer tuners are not visible in configuration.exe. You should look in SetupTV.exe for your tuner and channel setup.

Is TVServer installed or not? If not install it.
Have a quick look in your start menu or in program files/team mediaportal. You should have separate folders there for MediaPortal and TVServer.

I'm sorry, but unfortunately i've given up and switched to another HTPC app, because at this point its just not going to work, (Ive actually tried with a fresh install on a duplicate system, with the same results.) If they can fix it in the future i might switch, but its impossible to install on a Dell Inspiron 518 Vista X64 system.
    My problems were:
    1.01
Installer crashes on the Mediaportal step
    In XP compatibility mode: Installs
Errors on startup, refuses to run (Forgot the error)
    XP compatibility: Same error
    Admin mode: Same
    XP C+Admin: Different error
    Current:
Installer hangs at any taskkill process (In my experience its due to the type of installer, fixed by using task manager to kill taskkill.exe)
Installer hangs before allowing the Mediaportal step to work
Configuration.exe hangs for about 5minutes before allowing any configuration
Configuration.exe does not detect my tuner (Same in compatibility/admin mode)
Installed TVserver with same issues as above
It refuses to connect to either SQL, saying either not found or access denied (All settings were correct, firewall set to allow all from all the programs.)
after wasting a good 5 hours with installing and setting up, I switched to another program that has immediate compatibility with my current system.
:sorry: but :D for the help anyway, it seems that is my system, not the program. IMHO There isn't a program this complex that will work with EVERY system.
