TV audio codec woes (1 Viewer)

I have a problem with the choice of audio codec in My TV. I am using the Nvidia PureVideo Bronze decoder, which works fine with the video. However, when I use the PureVideo as audio decoder, I don't get any sound from the DVB-T channels (in my case SVT1 and SVT2) broadcasting Dolby Digital (AC3) audio streams. The sound works fore these channels when switching to the MPA codec, but then I lose the sound from channels such as Eurosport, Discovery and Animal Planet that supposedly are broadcasting audio as MPEG. I know that that PureVideo Bronze does not support Dolby Digital 5.1, but I don't think SVT is broadcasting e.g. regular news programs in 5.1.

Does anybody have clue?

I don't know if this is the answer, the text below is quoted from the Nvidia site:

"The audio decoder is only compatible with Windows Media Player 9 or higher and Windows Media Center for DVD playback. It will not work with any other application at this time due to requirements from third-party technologies which NVIDIA is actively working to fix."

Has anybody been able to decode AC3 audio in MediaPlayer using PureVideo as audio codec?

Tried the NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder Platinum 30 day Trial version today, same thing. No audio on AC3 channels. I am now using the Dscaler codec, which seems to work on all of my channels, MPEG or AC3. Still having problems, though, when a channel switches from AC3 to MPEG (like SVT2 when broadcasting local Swedish news), when the sound disappears and I have to switch to another channel and back again. I would really like a codec that could handle MPEG as well as AC3 audio and changes between the two without glitches - that would make TV viewing a much less troublesome experience.

I am trying to convince my parents that this is the future, but so far their Sony Bravia is much more stable when it comes to watching TV in real time. No audio problems, no stutter, faster channel changes, etc. They are quite impressed, though, with all the nice features of MP.

Have you updated your Mediaportal install from a pre 0.2.2.0 install keeping some settings from the previous version?

Had many problems with my digital sound output and had to reinstall from scratch.
First figured it was ffdshow but it was some mixed up settings in the MP directory.

Thanks for the tip, AC3 Filter seems to work fine.

    Dukeelam:
No, clean 0.2.2.0 install, no previous version.

Ok, had to ask :) .

However as i mentioned i use ffdshow-tryouts, (only the audio part, i use Purevideo also for the video). That ffdshow version have S/PDIF output settings for AC3 and DTS codecs. I also upmix the audio from my TV MPEG source to AC3 with it. So that might help as you seem to have the problem with non AC3 source audio.
