TV card compatibility with media portal (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am planning to build a HTPC to play HD videos, music and record TV programs. I would like to use media portal as my media center solution (on top of windows 7 or xp - have not decided yet).

I have an analog TV cable (antenna) and I am interested in this tv card:
Hauppauge Computer Works Ltd : WinTV-HVR-3300

So my question, is the above card compatible with media portal?
Can I use the remote provided with the TV card to control media portal? will it work flawlessly or some buttons work and some not?

Anyone have tried Hauppauge remotes with media portal?

Hi.
Remote looks like other MCE remotes i tried from Hauppauge, so it should work flawlessly out-of-the-box.

Regarding the TV-part, I believe the digital side should also work out-of-the-box, but since I guess the analogue part does not have hardware encoding, so it might be a bit of a PITA to set up. Can't say much more, I'm afraid - hopefully someone else can.

If the card has hardware encoder, will it have a better chance of working?
I choose this card over the more expensive one (50$ more) that have a hardware encoder. If this 50$ is gonna make the process easier I might be happy to pay it.
