Hello

I have a problem with my TV-card showing up twice in TV-server (Terratec S7 DVB-S/S2 USB).
One of the instances I can remove and the other I can edit (see attached pictures).
When i remove one of them and edit the other one to use a CAM etc. everything works perfect until I restart the computer, then I have the two instances again and have to do the remove/edit thing again.
Anyone else experienced this?

Regards
Haax

    Hi,

I have only seen this when I plugged my USB tuner into another USB port (after some maintenance) - then I also
had some unknown tuner in the list and had to go through the editing ...

My only guess would be that the motherboard allocates the USB somehow differently on each boot?? But I don't know much about that kind of stuff.

Sorry, this might not help a lot but maybe points you in the right direction.

I have a similar problem at the moment after changing motherboard, all my cards appear twice. The devices are referred to in the database by a string like this:

    '@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7162&subsys_354014c7&rev_01#4&298f2d5&0&00e0#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\{3ff44ee5-8547-402a-94f3-d44700020000}'

...but I'm not sure where that comes from - registry I guess?

That might be the case, I recently changed my computer case and maybe I put the tuner in a different USB port. Do you think trying to change port will solve the problem?

    Hi.

I have/had this problem also, and i had to patch tvservice a bit for making it work okay. I mean that I can shut down htcp and restart it without having to adjust(scan/map channels to new appeared tuner) tuner every time.

I think this depends on Motherboard(or MB & win combination) somehow as it does not behave like this on all MB's.
    Anyway for me device path
    ('@device:pnp:\\?\pci#ven_1131&dev_7162&subsys_354014c7&rev_01#4&298f2d5&0&00e0#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\{3ff44ee5-8547-402a-94f3-d44700020000}')
changes for usb tuner almost every time i reboot htpc.

I introduced my solution a while ago, bu nobody was interested, so i did not make more noise about it :D

Basically what I do in patch is that when Tvservice tries to add new tuner

i check the the tuner name and start of the device path(without instance id as it is the one that changes) and compare
if it exist in Db allready, if it does i only update device path to db for existing tuner record in db.

If someone is interested, or has better sophisticated solution(dev's especially) let me know, and i post patch.

    Regards,

Hi - I'd be interested in seeing your patch- if only to see where in the source code tuners are added so I can better understand how it all works.

Shouldn't we file a bugreport on this and attach the patch?
    Edit:
Can I do that or only selected people?

I can do that if it is OK that I attach your patch.

And I really like your "Own family happiness patches.", would need a couple of those to ;)

    Hi

By all means you can file bug report, but patch is not perfect. it wont work wery good
with two or more tuners with same type.

lately i have not needed family patch as channell zap works okay now.

    regards
