Does this only happen for ABC, or do you get the same errors with the other channels?

Have you checked what tuning details have been recorded by MediaPortal for the ABC channel? You can do this in MediaPortal Configuration -> Television -> TV Channels -> Edit.

No it wont read the card, I think it only says ABC because its the first in the list. Sometimes I get an error that it cant see the card, but most of the time its the ABC error. Also time shifting is greyed out, and when using MP 2.3.0 RC1 all was OK. I tried copying the xml file from previous version - but no go still

I did what you said and while in the edit area I unticked the ABC abd de-selected it in Channels and tried again - same - "No card can tune ABC"

This problem is the same for my avermedia card - which I removed

Hmmm - strange. So it worked fine with MP 2.3.0 RC1, but will not work with MP 2.3.0 RC2?

When you upgraded to RC2, did you export your TV channels from RC1 and then import them into RC2?

Do I understand correctly that you can run "autotune" in RC2 and all the channels are found, and correct data added - but when you run MediaPortal to watch a channel, you get that "No card can tune ABC" error?

Could you launch MediaPortal, go to My TV, try to watch ABC and then when the error appears, exit MediaPortal and attach the resulting MediaPortal.log file here?

I am a dangerous newbie as I have a small knowledge through trial and error but this time I am stumped, All i did was copy the card xml from my old install. Is there a correct proceedure for this or is it a simple copy. Yes autotune is 100% OK it finds all my previous channels etc, but as soon as you run My Tv it stops and I can not do anything at all I cant change channels I can only right click to get out.

Last night when I unticked ABC and removed from channel lists etc it left seven on top of the list and then I go into My TV it still cant tune to ABC - so therefore I presume it is related to frequency ans thus still looks for ABC. As I said I am a newbie so I am guessing

Here is my error log after selecting Channel 9

Your error log suggests to me that you don't have a video or audio decoder selected. Can you go into MediaPortal Configuration -> Television and check that you have MPV selected for the Video decoder and MPA selected for the audio decoder?

If that doesn't help, could you please post your System Configuration (use the template) and attach the whole MediaPortal.log file.

    HTH ...

Please attach files to your posts, rather than insert huge amounts of text.

I notice this error in your MediaPortal.log file, which needs to be resolved:-

I am not sure what it means, but as a start I suggest you disable any plugins that you might have installed to see if that removes the error?

Your MP.log file indicates that it finds and connects your TV card, but cannot find any tuning information.

It might be best to start afresh:-

Make a copy of your MediaPortal folder, incase you need some files from it later

    Uninstall MediaPortal (using Windows Uninstall)

Delete the remaining contents of the MediaPortal folder

    Reboot

Install MediaPortal v0.2.3.0 RC2, including the supplied decoders. Do not install any plugins

Run MediaPortal Setup/Configuration and verify that your TV card is detected correctly. If it is, run "autotune" and then verify that all the channels contain the correct tuning data.

Finish the rest of setup (other folders, etc, but don't touch the plugins - let's get the TV part working first).

Close MP Setup and then launch Mediaportal.
All should be well now, but if it is not - please describe exactly what happened and attach the MediaPortal.log file ...

    HTH .... ;)

I tried to install the shortcut hack to run the tuner program with my tv card and once I figured out how to install the fix.dll file would not work only to find hack does not work with RC2. OK thanks I will re-install but how do i import the movie data base again with having to download all of the info again - or do i have no choice to restart the movie info again

:D :D Bingo - Re-installed worked, I have not imported movies yet. The only problem I have is stuttering TV even though I have installed the MS anti Stutter fix. But TV works - can you give me an idea how I can use the earlier installed RC2 database - this will save a lot of time as I have a lot of movies I have converted to DIVX from me original DVDs etc plus TV series etc.

Thank you very much for your effort I am not sure how I can post a thank you other than in words.

I am pleased to hear (read) that you have had some success ....:)

To get your movies back, you could try copying the "VideoDatabaseV5.db3" file across from your previous version to this new install - but rename the existing one (to say VideoDatabaseV5.db3.old) just incase my suggestion doesn't work.
