Dear all,

I did start with installing Media Portal on a laptop for testing, a Hauptauge WinTV USB2 connected to it not reading any docu made some errors.

With MediaConfigurator I did add all channels (not knowing about the scan function). So far all mappings were perfect, then I did add WebEPG again manual configuring. Then I detected the setup wizard and did run it, it detected more channels but in the MP configurator they were with channels 0, so I deleted them.

I don't know when exactly but since that time playing with setup wizard and MP configurator my list of channels looks correct in the MP configurator however in myTV the mapping is wrong in about 60-70% of my 42 channels and I have many no longer connected to the correct channel.

Any idea what is wrong and what to do to correct?

Also the EPG grabber in the wizzard brings me wrong channels, I do correct them, but coming back the same errors are there (e.g. 3+ is displayed as MTV3 etc.)

It would be very helpfull for 1st timers to have a how to what to do first (e.g. using the wizard) with all the 1st steps.

However I like MP very much it is promising a lot, need to check more into the details it's just hard to find the right source of docu for it!

Keep on with the good work

Werner

Wizard and TV always have been a bit hit n miss.

Personally would clear all channels in MP config\Television and rescan from there only.

Save and then remap WebEPG to channels.

    Hello Ray,

thanks, tried that, however deleted (cleared) all in MP Configuration, then started MP and did see RTL II (but no signal, changed group and all traces gone). So I redid all channels according to my card (no automatic grabbing as analog) manually in MP Configuration, redid and grabbed WebEPG, restarted MP and again only a few channels match

And this is changing, after each start or even when scrolling through the channels say 15 should be ARd but is BR as well as 14 and 13, then 12 is CNN instead of RTL II but scrolling back to 13, 14, 15 are now CNN!

So here I am not any better then before, there must be something inside my TV which makes this mess. When I check on the WinTV 2000 application my channel list in MP configurator is 100% identical but in MP it's just plain not working and it did for 3 days until last night.

    Lost here.

    Very thankful for any help

    Werner

BTW how do I attach my files?
    MP 0.2.3.0
    Win XP V2
    DirectX 9.0c
    PIII 1.2 Gig 512MB
    Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2

    Hi again

Working on the principal that you are using Mediaportal stable version 0.2.3.0, have you installed all the .net files neccessary,

How's the TV signal, if it works fine with the Hauppauge software, hopefully it should work with MP.

A little bit worried with the specs of your pc, but lets see.

First graphics really need to be a minimal of 64mb memory (this is for one of the basic skins to work) and preferably USB2 connection.

Now we have got past that bit, so you tune fine, compare this to any mainstream TV that is connected to the same aerial, if missing channels, then not a good signal.

Ok if channels tune fine and you need to configure them to WebEPG.

Launch WebEPG config from Mediaportal folder (i am assuming you have found this from previous comment) select a channel and then open your Country specific location, select the channel that matches and save.

If you are having issues it might be worthwhile doing a couple and then test.

If you have problems, there is something called MPTestool2, can be listed under programs or in the MP folder, follow the instructions and run that, then use the advanced options on this website, to upload your mediaportal logs.

    Hello Ray,

many thanks for the fast reply, I'm in the office right now and the PC with MP is at home, so can't yet upload the files (I did use the testtool for above test).

First of all, the setup was working with manual configuration of the channels for 3 days, then I detected the setup wizzard and played around, then I deleted in MP Configuration some of the wrong channels, then I had a mess in MP and could still see wrong assignements and then suddently a total mess with channel to freq assignement in MP but all looked ok in MP Config.

    >...stable version 0.2.3.0, have you installed all the .net files neccessary,

yes .net 2.0 with all patches installed

    >How's the TV signal
signal is fine with both (if a channel is assigned correct in MP)

    >A little bit worried with the specs of your pc, but lets see.
I know, its the lower end of perf but it's for testing before I'm convinced :D

    >First graphics really need to be a minimal of 64mb memory (this is for one of the basic skins to work) and preferably USB2 connection.

for the 64 I guess, USB 2.0 is given

    >compare this to any mainstream TV that is connected to the same aerial, if missing channels, then not >
    a good signal.

both on the TV and the hauppauge WinTV2000 all channels are fine (signal is from a cable provider), but on the MP I have several different channels with the same sender (e.g. RTL II is coming on 8, 9, 10, 11 and several correct in MP Config assigned channels (checked in WinTV2000) are without signal

    >Ok if channels tune fine and you need to configure them to WebEPG.

need to check for confirmation confirmed, but I believe the WebEPG are correctly assigned to the names of the channels (however the channel is wrong see above with RTL II), so e.g. VOX I see in the programm guide the correct movies and times, but the signal I see is RTL II

    >Launch WebEPG config from Mediaportal folder (i am assuming you have found this from previous comment) select a channel and then open your Country specific location, select the channel that matches and save.

that was correctly done (as before) and I believe matches the channels in MP Config.

    >If you are having issues it might be worthwhile doing a couple and then test.

no issues with MP Conf. and WebEPG, that part is working fine

    >If you have problems, there is something called MPTestool2, can be listed under programs or in the MP folder, follow the instructions and run that, then use the advanced options on this website, to upload your mediaportal log

I will do that when back at the MP PC at home, finaly did see the button below :sorry:

I seem not to have a TV log, how can I activate this?

Still, what puzzles me most is, that I had a working system for some days and since played with the setup wizzard can't get it working again, hope not that I need to install it new?

    Many thanks!

:( So I did some more tests, I deleted all started by adding one by one, could add 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 all went ok, all I added after 12 got the signal from 12, then I added one in between, 31, but signal was from 67.

it was also interesting to see, when one got wrong it had the last correct signal. E.g 12 was valid, 18 got the signal from 12, then swaped to 31 (which had signal from 67, got back to 18, which had now signal from 67!

I'm lost and a bit frustrated as in the application from hauppauge all is correct :(

I am having a hard time quite understanding the issues here, but here goes:
First: I am using STB (s-video) so I have no exp. with antenna/cable) (that is what you use, right.

    - Start with clean channel list etc. Remove everything in WebEPG-conf.exe

Now: Since TV channels work fine in Win2000 - you can write down every channelname w/channel (or frequency) from there
    In setup (MediaPortal config):
    1. Add these manually in setup. Add name and channel. I remember this was what I had to do when I used antenna (used DScaler4 to find channels)
    2. Map channels to TV-card

    Open WebEPG-conf.exe (in MP directory)
    3. Hit: "Import channel data" - make sure source = MediaPortal
    4. Mark channel and map with correct EPG-source

Please tell me where things messes up. Note sure, but it MIGHT be taht the software from Hauppauge messes thing. Try not to use it after you read channels.

I am not answering much here, but trying to find out where things get messed up.

    EDIT:
Could you also attach configuration log?

    Found in : x:\xxx\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Log

Also: This would be the preferred driver http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/support_mce.html

    Hello all,

thanks for all the advices, had a closer look tonight at the MP log file, what I could see is, that the channel was assigned to a total wrong frequency and the country code was 31 (is 41 for Switzerland).

Now I had to find where the wrong country is set, finally found it in:

Television - Capture Card - Autotune

changed country from Netherlands to Switzerland and did let Autotune run, it did not find all channels and the name was mostly wrong, but I can correct it there as well as manual add the missing channels from the list (including correct frequencies).

So remember on an analog list channel might NOT be the one you have in the list of your provider, check the frequency in addition.

Ok enough for tonight, tomorrow adding all the rest and then configuring WebEPG and hopefully then being ready to use MP.

The main problem I have is to understand how all the different modules are working together but slowly I get part of the picture!

    'til tomorrow!

    Werner :D
