Okay,
So all of a sudden many of my cable channels are inconsistent. It seems the cable provider in my area (shaw cable) has moved some channels around. So, i deleted the old list and autoscanned via the setup utility to bring in the new lineup. Well, it seems that for whatever reason MP will not recognise a few of the channels. THey simply don't show up in the autoscan, but furthermore, the channels that MP puts in lieu of the originals are completely different. FOr example. channel 14 on my standard, normal everyday tv in the living room is KSPS, but MP on my bedroom HTPC brings in channel 14 as something completely different.

Two weeks ago i painstakingly went through all my tv channels on MP and renamed them to match them up to the actual channels they were supposed to be. Now however, it seems pointless as some channels are simply completely missing.

does anyone have any information at all that can solve this? or is there anyone else with this problem? Please help....

For Channel Numbers, please check the Use Channel Number (Non-US) Checkbox in Setup. That may help.

Thanks for the reply guys. I have tried both of your suggestions with no positive results. I have tried changing the frequencies of the channels that aren't tuning in properly and they still wont change. example: channel 8 is global tv and channel 5 is abc. when i autotune channel 8 and 5 are both displayed as abc. when i edit channel 8 and input the correct frequency it still displays the ABC, and nowhere in any of the autotuned channels is there any channel that displays global tv. Is this a problem with the tv-tuner? i am using the latest drivers from the hauppauge website. i have tried both of the above suggestions... it seems so odd thata week ago i was having no problems and now all of a sudden the channels have up and disappeared. Will the new TV Engine be able to address these issues?

    Please help

My GF gonna hurl my htpc out the window if she can't watch Oprah in bed...

Remove info from tvguide in setup and delete tvdatabase.xml in mediaportal folder/database, also delete old channel list if you have one.
Then retune MP should give you the ability to start afresh.

    Hi fod,

Not sure if this will help solve any of your problems but you
can try using the Zap2It plugin for helping with your channels
and verify your lineup (It should also name them for you in MP).
    EPG Zap2It Plugin:

Also I am not sure how you identify channels there but I think
if you want 14 to goto channel 14 and not the 14th
channel in your list of channels I think you uncheck "Select channel by index"

    thanks for the responses guys,

unfortunately, the problem is still persisting after all your suggestions. For example, channel 37 on shaw cable should be WPIX, but when i autotune, it shows channel 37 as the channel number but actually displays the information (tv picture) for french CBC. I am perturbed. I have deleted all the channel information including the tvdatabase file, I have manually entered channel numbers and frequencies. I use the zap2it plugin fro my guide informaiton, and it renames and sorts the channels according to its own database, which works fine except it boggles the bottom 10 local channels (which i can reorganise manualy so not a big deal) but i still have the persisting 4 channels that just will not come in. I know its not a cable provider problem as my other tv without MP tunes it in fine. What i find strange is that this happened all of a sudden, for months MP was working fine and everything was where it needed to be. But now, it is acting up. My last effort is going to be uninstalling the hauppauge 150-mce drivers and re-installing them to see if it is a driver issue with the tuner card. Failing that i will un-install MP and painstakingly reinstall it.

What I really want to know is, is there anyone else with this problem. I am I alone in this, it would really help to diagnose if i knew that others are dealing with the same issue? Conversly, will the new tv engine be able to address these issues? I am so at my witts end, I am so impressed with MP and would like to continue using it, and I don't want to blame the program if its the hardware.

Again, thanks to all for the responses,

    fod

If other program, ie supplied software works perfectly then it's a MP software problem, or some other program that directly effects windows (which screws MP up).
Look like your using a PC to run MP, rather than a HTPC which tends to be a much claeaner, program wise and less liable to any corruption.

Mines the former ie PC, so it gets used for all sorts, and even XP pro cannot cope with what's thrown at it in my Household.
So saturday was spent reinstalling everything, after a format and to my relief, with the latest SVN, running like a dream.

So do not give up, as well worth the effort to get things right, as long as it does not deter the homelife.

thanks for the response. MY pc is built and dedicated to only running Mediaportal. THe only other programs installed are roxio, dvd shrink and abg antivirus. These have been running with Mp from the get go a few months ago with no problem so i don't think they are to blame. Don't get me wrong, i think MP is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but being a perfectionist, not having these few channels is making me crazy, let alone not knowing why. I guess i will try installing wintv that comes with the hauppauge 150 and see if it tunes the channels properly, if not i guess its a reinstall.

    Thanks again for the help
