Hi All,

After reading the TV server manual, I still have questions.

I have 2 digital tuners. I "autotune" each card. Should I then map the channels such that each card has all channels? Or does a given channel only need to be "mapped" to one of the cards?

I am confused. An answer to this, and/or and explanation of how the whole TV pipeline works would be appreciated (I dont mind if it is technical).

Cheers,

'max

I'm also not sure how to make it work with two cards that have the same channels.
Lets hope someone can answer this...I would really like to move over to TV3....

    Hi Lomax,

I guess you have to map all channels to both cards. If you map them to one card only, you get an error if you watch one channel and try to record another one.

Also, if I understand correctly, you have to autotune only once and then in MediaPortal Setup map all channels to the second card, to.

geov: Why don't you move over to TVE3 yet? I did it like 8 weeks ago and it works very well.

    Hi jayrock

    I'll try to explain.....

I use a single satellite-decoder that can receive two LNB inputs, and therefor have two outputs. One output goes to composite-1 and the other to composite-2 on the PVR500. With the old TV2 I could map all the channels to composite-1, and in the capture-card configuration change the second card to link composite1-to-composite2....does that make sense? With TV3 I don't have the same functionality, which means that somehow I have to add every channel twice, once for composite-1 and then again for composite-2.....so I have not been able to figure out how :( Another problem is that I get my channels from XMLTV file which I import, so would have to do this twice now...all very confusing to me.

If you can give me some pointers I would appreciate it....let me know if I need to upload some screen-shots of my configuration.

    Cheers

Not sure if I get it.... Aren't the outputs of your SAT decoder independent of each other? Why do you need to link composite-1 to composite 2?

    Hi Jayrock

Sorry for taking so long to respond...been a bit busy with project deliveries at work.

The SAT decoder does have independent outputs, and I'm not talking about the physical linking (not with cables), I'm talking purely about MP configuration. Have a l look at the attached pictures, you will see that channel-46 is configured on 'CVBS#1'. Then on card-1's Audio/Video configuration CVBS#1 = CVBS#1 and on card-2's Audio/Video configuration CVBS#1 = CVBS#2. This allows me to tell MP to make channel-46 (which is configured on CVBS#1) available on both inputs of the Hauppauge PVR500. Now with the TV-server3 I cant do the same, so I'm lost as to how to configure it.

Please help configure my PVR500 on TV-Server3

    Hi All

    Please see the images above....

With MediaPortal going all out to replace TV2 with TV3 I'm desperate to resolve my problem with configuring my PVR500 on TV-Serve3. Can anyone please give me some pointers on how to configure my Hauppauge card using two composite-inputs but only one list of TV-channels?

    Many Thanks

I'm in the exact same boat with a PVR-500. Someone please tell us how you've configured the tuners.

I have 2 receivers (identical channel subscription) but I can't seem to tell TV3 that all channels are available on both tuners. Tuner 1 works great. When I start a second stream (switch to tuner 2) I just get a black screen with no audio.

All my channels are added by the zap2it plugin and they are linked to SvhsInput1

    Hi StaticMan

Yes you have exactly the same problem as me. Lets keep this thread active and hope that someone comes to our rescue, perhaps one of the !!TV3 Developers!! will see this :D . My PVR500 has been sent away for replacement as I've been having a lot of quality issues, but as soon as its back I will try and resolve this issue again.

    Cheers

I may be misreading this but I have this setup with TV3...well similar I think. I have a PVR500 that is fed by two seperate Sat STB's into the svhs inputs on the pvr500 (SVHS#1). In addition I have a TTS2-3200 DVB-S card.

    Basic setup is STB1/pvr500-card1 - full sky, STB2/pvr500-card2 - Freesat(subset sky), DVB-S - Subset of Freesat.

For initial setup and took an existing TVGuide.xml and let TV3 import it, this creates all my channels. Then the boaring bit, go thorough all created channels and set the channels number, counry and Video source...I have an sql script to setup countryid and videosource.

I then go into mapping and map all channels to card1, freesat channels to card2.

The finial part for me is to scan for channels on the DVB-S and combine the matching channels into the channels on card1.

This configuration means I have major channels avaiable on all 3 cards, Tv3 seems to sort out which card to use...

This is a single seat configuration but have played with multiseat and had no problems.

Hope that is of some help....let me know if need more info.
