TV performance bad (1 Viewer)

Well I've been tacking MP again and have everything working perfectly except TV client performance.

Under sage TV I had a client server setup that worked without a hitch and I'm using the exact same hardware for WP. Well, exact same except I had to five up my Wireless RF remote/keyboard/mouse because MP doesn't seem to know how to handle it (well, maybe I'll experiment with HID setup later).

Everything for TV works fine on the server setup but clients on the 1 gig LAN are jerky and slightly garbled (some out of place blocks appear every few seconds).

I tried the latest FFShow pack and the CCCP pack for codes but the difference is minimal.

Any suggestions as to which codecs work best on a MP TV client?

    Hi PatM

What are the specs of your clients?
What kinds of streams are you trying to play (MPEG 2 or h.264)?

If h.264 then the clients need either reasonably powerful CPUs or GPUs that support DxVA. Otherwise the CPUs won't be able to cope with the video decoding load....

I assume its mpeg2 since I've got analog TV tuners but I don't know what mediaportal's TV server serves up to clients so it could be anything.

The clients are pretty powerful machines running XP and Win 7 (6 core on one) BUT I just tried my crappy little dual core 1.6 gig econobox last night and TV is super smooth and beautiful on it with the CCCP codecs.

So, it looks like I have to go clean up my other clients as the same server feeds the uber wimpy box perfectly so it's obviously not the server and it uses the same codecs so its not the codecs themselves. Something else must be interfering.

    Hi

Just quickly before I go to bed: analog tuners will be serving up MPEG 2 for sure. Most computers should handle that fine. When you say you installed CCCP I take it you also configured the codec preferences in MP configuration?
