I was watching a program on ITV4 when suddenly the picture froze and audio stopped. I didn't do anything and after a minute or so, the picture resumed but with no audio.

I hadn't noticed any glitches until then, so I don't think it's a signal problem. I can see there's a lot of Discontinuity and Demux/DeMultiplexer entries in the logs, not that I know what any of them mean.

    That's wierd 'cos I'm only running a single-seat installation.

I'm using Comodo 4 firewall, so maybe my rules weren't quite right but I didn't get any popups requesting access. and I wouldn't have thought TV would have worked at all if the firewall was preventing MP connecting to TVService.

You need several ports open. What we do with our DeployTool (that attempt to configure only windows built-in firewall) is:

    • full network access for "tvservice.exe"
    • full network access for "setuptv.exe"
    • full network access for "mediaportal.exe"
    • port 1433(tcp) and 1434(udp) for MSSQL
    • port 3306(tcp) for MySQL

Please configure your firewall accordly -> retest -> post new logs if still in trouble.

Cheers for the advice. I'll make sure the firewall's set right. It's already got global rules allowing in/out to any port on the LAN, but maybe it still needs specific rules as you've listed.
