Hello all.

I was running Media Portal 1.0 with SVN 21720, SAF and using StreamedMP. I've been updating it every few months. I installed SVN 22029 today along with the latest SAF and StreamedMP, and found that there were some big changes around the TV functionality of MP..

I went into Mediaportal after updating everything, and found that it could not see my tuner. I then found in Mediaportal configuration that I had to configure my TV card in there too, not just in the TV server. I had trouble setting up the new configuration, missing EPG data, TV logos gone etc and tried to restore a backup but it failed. On the channels that did work, there was severe audio stuttering issues. I ended up just removing everything.

I was wondering a few things
- what is the purpose of having configuration under both Mediaportal, and under TV server?
- would it be best to wait until 1.0.1 is released before I do an install again?

Thanks :)

    Hi there :)

    1. TV Card setup should only be done in the TVServer Config. If you had to do it in MP Config as well, then you probably did not install the TVClient plugin.

    2. You can look at the changelog of the latest SVN and decide if you want to test it or not. Already many positive replies about it (mine included).

Hi Rekenaar, thank you for your reply.

What is the TVClient plugin? I've searched the forums for it but I cannot find any information. Is this something new that I should have done when installing the latest SVN?

Based on your post I am currently reinstalling MediaPortal 1.0, and I'll installed SVN 22162 over the top of it before I start any configuration. I plan to use the BackupSettings plugin afterward to ensure I don't have these problems again!

The TVClient plugin should be installed automatically if you install TVServer.

Your TVServer and MediaPortal on same PC (SingleSeat)?
Also, do a quick test BEFORE you restore with backupsetttings and before you add any additional stuff. Just to be sure it is not a post install action that breaks it.

Also, with the SVN, install the MediaPortal part first followed by the TVServer part - otherwise the TVPlugin might not get installed properly (it comes with TVServer but it's installed into MP).

It appears that is what I did wrong. I installed the TV Server SVN and then the MediaPortal SVN.

I'm currently just fixing up the TV Series plugin but at this stage everything is looking good.

It is indeed. While we're on the subject (will open a new thread if necessary) - I have a desktop PC in my room, is it possible to install MediaPortal as a completely client side solution? ie not having to set up MovingPictures and MyTVSeries on the desktop too? As all the files are on the HTPC and there are a lot of them :)

    Hi again :)

You will have to install and setup the plugins on the client side.
If you follow the guidelines here, you will be able to use the same database.
