Since a couple of weeks I haven't been able to enter 'My Tv-Series' in Mediaportal, as MePo-Config crashes and gives me a window saying 'unhandled exception has occurred in your application...'. The cause of this crash comes from the Subtitle-Downloader it seems, as I find this under details:

    ************** Exception Text **************
System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'SubtitleDownloader.Core.SubtitleDownloaderFactory' threw an exception. ---> System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1).
error CS0006: Metadata file 'C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System\2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\System.dll' could not be found

I've installed My TV-series for a couple of times now and with every install it's the same window. In fact, I now have a completely clean install of Mediaportal and completely deleted everything from My TV-series and when I install it, it's the same problem again.
I have even installed My TV-series using the .zip-file and deleted the subtitle downloader-DLL. Even that didn't work.

I'm out of ideas; does anyone know what's going on here and how I should fix this? Or do you need more log-information or anything?

Or do you need more log-information or anything?

Less log-information is only needed when you plan to fix the problem yourself. The MP-TVSeries plugin and MediaPortal program do not make large log files for nothing, which become useful to diagnose a problem when you place them in 'debug' mode.

But from the limited amount of info provided, you might want to look at your .NET framework installation, install .NET 3.5 and/or 4.0 with all the latest security patches and updates that have been released.

    OK,

I installed .NET Framework 4.0, hoping that would solve anything, but unfortunately it didn't. I have made a log about what TV-Series does on MP-startup (using MePo Watchdog), but there everything seems fine. Is there anything else that I can do to provide you with more information? I'm really getting lost here.

make sure all versions are installed and updated, v2 and v3 of .NET. having 4 doesnt replace the the lower versions you have them all simultaniously.

sometimes after installing you have to revisit windows update for it to show additional updates to those once installed/rebooted

Really you should try and make sure you have all the windows updates installed you will have less problems in general.

    :D
Thanks very much you guys, .NET indeed was the culprit! I uninstalled my complete .net configuration (using a nifty 'dotnetfx cleanup tool' by the way), installed everything from 3.5 SP1 up and now I finally have 'My TV-series' back. Thanks again!
