Everything was running fine until one night I discovered that I could no longer watch TV3 and C4 (both supplied by the same company). I thought this was strange but i started up tv-server so i could tune them back in and be able to watch them again. While i was doing this tv-server stopped responding and closed down, which has happened a few times in the past so i thought nothing of it. I then tried to open it again and i got the dialog box that pops up when you try to run it for the first time: Tv service is not running, start it now? I clicked yes and nothing happened so i tried opening it again and the same thing happened again, the dialog box pops up and nothing happens when i click yes. Finally after about 10 minutes of brainstorming what to try i get the attached error message popping up twice (once for each time i tried to open tv-server config).

Confused i just decided to completely uninstall and then reinstall everything again. I did this but tv server is still doing the exact same thing. MediaPortal works fine, I just can't watch any tv with it.

The uninstall process says it completely removes everything - registry entries etc - but I think something has to be left lurking around to be producing the exact same error when i do a reinstall.

Is there anything you can think of that I can try to get this working. I have thought about reinstalling windows but I really don't want to do that.

Cheers

I am having the same problem. I have tried the fix listed, but my hosts fils was already like that. I also tried formating and re-installing windows. After I did this, it worked for about 5 minutes, then TVserver crashed and now I am right back where I started! The error claims that the target machine activly refused it, but I know this is not true as I have turned off all firewall software, and I can connect to other ports using my other computers.

[edit]
I know now for a fact that the full uninstall does not remove everything. I had already tried full uninstall followed by mysql uninstall several times when I did the first post. After posting, I decided to restart and try the uninstall and reinstall again. This time, it worked!!! TVserver starts now, and I am in the process of scanning for channels again. This also confirms my belief that nothing was refusing the connection, as I did nothing to my firewall except turn it back on. Also, I have never had this problem with my other computer, so perhapse it has something to do with the chipset or NIC? I am using the same TV tuner card I was using on that system, same firewall, same windows release. The only difference is the network adapter, video card, and mainboard.

[edit-again]
It has been about two days since I posted originaly and I have an update. It seems that TVService is now crashing at random times, even when I am not recording or watching TV. I can restart the service, but I cannot get it to keep running. Other than TVservice, nothing on the system has had any problems since the reinstall. I hope 1.0.2 will include a fix.
