Hey all,

I have had my tv server setup for quite some time now and never really got it where I want it to have because it's just not reliable and stable and I'm really clueless of the cause, except for my one and only assumption -> driver issues with my tv card and s3 standby.
I hoped I could cure that one with MCE standbytool and the addon hoborg did but it seems not to be curing any of the problems.
I have attached some log files of the last crash. After I rebooted the system everything's fine again.

If there's anything else I need to report I'll gladly apply.

hi joz,
using gmps you can tell your machine to perform a reboot after each resume. it's a bit brute force, but it's working. :)
if your case has imon hardware inbuilt, you could use s5 (soft-off) as "standby mode" which should cure your problems, too...

Hi usualsuspect,

Thanks. I already figured that would be a way to go for now until there's a proper fix.
Is it somehow possible to have the powerscheduler do this (instead of going into standby it could go off altogether)?

I am not sure, if powerscheduler can bring your system to s5. but anyway you need extra-hardware to wake it from s5.

Mr Hipp;

I was kinda onto the same thing, I have a dual hybrid tuner (analog + DVB-t) and only use analog.
However the DVB-t tuners are still present (although deactivated by me) in tv config.

I did not fiddle with that anymore because for example changing the order of these cards in tv config has caused me issues before (like nothing working anymore tv wise).
I also have an IP cam in there, which is useless.

So could anyone confirm this might contribute to the issue? Do I have to do anything. I'll for sure make a backup before doing anything regarding this card in mp conf because I had huge non recovarable errors with that before, to a point I needed to drop the whole tv database.
but anyway you need extra-hardware to wake it from s5.
I'm wiling to use my bios feature " wakeup on ring" for this (go on @ 09:00 everyday, like I already do now), so no extra hardware needed @ all.

Nope purely bios. Some bios'es do not even support it.

Just took a quick peek in the wiki and to me it seems S5 is not listed there (and I can;t select it either in powerscheduler, no shutoff or shutdown or whatever in that dropbox)

that's not too flexible :(.
there is a software which allows changing the wake-time, but it's only for linux :(

maybe gmps and reboot before resume really is a good option for you.

just for completeness:
"wake on ring" listens to a modem
"wake on alarm" is activated by the clock..., I think that's what you mean...

yep, I meant alarm one, not the ring actually, you're right. And yeah your also right about the flexibility but I do not need it as the machine in question acts as a webserver during the day (which gets powered of on weekdays @ 1:00 and wakeup @ 9:00)

Now back to the issue @ hand here. As already remarked by Mr Hipp it might have to do with my dual tuner, me not configuring things right or something to that extend.
What should I do with the dvb-t receivers? I disabled them now, should I? Do I need to remove them altogether (which, learned from last experience, forces me to drop the tv db, or at least fix some sort of issue with it)
