Panasonic cable box TZ-DCH2000
Media Center Remote

I am trying to get my TV working through mediaportal. I used windows 7 and in Windows media center there is easy 3 steps to configure Tv. Very simple.

Is there any guide or step by step so I can setup my Tv tuner and Cable box. I can't find anyway to setup the Cable Tv to MP. I am a beginner and I really like MP but the TV setup has me lost. Thank you.

I wonder why nobody will even give me the slightest help even though I asked in newcomers section and I have tried to solve this myself but with no success. I think I must quit using this difficult program as there is no support or help for beginners.

I can' t help directly (I use DVB-T via an antenna, not cable) but if you gave more information on how your system is connected to the cable box it would make it easier for people to make suggestions, e.g. :

Is this digital or analog cable ?
Connected to the PC via the antenna input ? Composite video ? S-Video ?
Do you need to change channels on the cable box using an IR-blaster controlled by MP ?

Thank you for your offer to help.

I have removed media portal and will install some other media center. Nobody on this forum will even try help (except you of course) Eventually I fear I will find myself in more difficulties with no solution.

I write a column for several PC magazines in Japan and I will of course recommend that users do not use media portal. It has no support for beginners.

The problem with helping people is that - all too often - the question is basically "It doesn't work, how do I make it work ?" with very little information on the PC hardware, software, peripherals and exactly what steps the user has tried so far.

Without all this information it's very hard to help quickly - you have to spend a lot of time (which everyone here gives for free) just asking questions....

I tried a few of the other Media Center alternatives and I found MediaPortal to work best on my system, but it is European-oriented and probably easiest to set up for DVB-T/DVB-S TV.
