Tv tuning -Fixed but wondered why (1 Viewer)

I dropped two more tv tuners into my machine the other day and when I autoscanned the channels they did not find some major channels that I wanted, so I added the channels manually to the tuners and turned off my original twin tuner to test the new ones and they seemed to work ok for watching tv.

So I fixed the problem but I was just curious as to why anyone thinks that they would have skipped channels that I knew they should pickup as they were basic UK channels (bbc1,bbc2,itv) and then would display them when added manually ??

The original twin tuner was a terratec pci-e Cinergy 2400i DT
The two new tuners are hauppage HVR 1100's which seem to be working fine

TV signal being diminished when you split them at a guess.

I have had days where, if i do a reinstall and retune, loose a complete transponder, but if i add it manually, all is ok.

AFAIK most transmitters for DVB are not running at full power, because it interferes with the existing analogue, which will all change once the old system is shut down by 2012, earlier if you are lucky.

You do not hear of more repeater stations being built, for the more remote areas who cannot get a signal.

Looks like the government expects everyone else to go satellite.

For some reason the terratec card had been fine on the the missing channels but now all of them seem to have dropped ITV and Five.us so it probably is as you say the signal being split that caused it after all.

Fortunately I have a powered booster to hand so i am going to plug it in and turn up the power

From what I have tried to find out the Digital signal from my nearest transmitter (sandy heath) is only about 10% of its max power for the reason you gave above. HURRY UP WITH THE SWITCH OVER PLEASE!!!!!! LOL
