it appears that I have to start up wintv anytime that I want to pick up the tv signal on media portal. Why is this and can I fix it so that I can just turn on tv in media portal and not have to go through other software to access the tv? Thanks.
Ok, maybe I just didn't explain it right or no one really has had this problem. If I want mytv to work when I hit turn on tv. I have to before starting media portal go into wintv2000 and start it there. Even then sometimes it doesn't work as when I turn on mytv in media portal sometimes it actually changes the settings on wintv2000 to pick up to look for the signal on the antenna rather then svideo. Everything else in media portal I have got pretty well worked out and operating but for some reason the tv functions don't seem to be working very well.
Sounds like a problem with graph building for the card. I actually used to use that method to get the radio working when MP didnt support radio on my card (erm maybe 1.5yrs ago
Id suggest starting MP and then trying to start the TV and examining the graph with graphedit and get a picture. Or at least get a log.
Thanks for the input Califo. It seems to be working alright now. I actually didn't have Grapheditor but I went through the tuner card configuration edit step by step and seem to have it working. We'll have to wait and see I have it recording tonight while I'm at work.
If I could make a suggestion to those in charge. I noticed that in the tuner card auto setup if you add a channel like I did for directv so that it picked up my settop box signal the next time you come back to it it doesn't appear in the box anymore. This was a little confusing as I couldn't tell if it was saving the information or losing it every time I left. It would probably be helpful for people if all saved entries were listed there. I don't know if that's possible or not.
Well, the log doesn't show any problems. I can see correctly tuned channels in the log. It seems to me that the tuner works fine.
Can you copy the created ts file(located in your timeshift folder) somewhere else while in channel preview and try to play it in VLC or MPC-HC?
PS: You can also try to make short record

The reason I was thinking I needed more RAM is that TV now seems to be HiDef and so the files have grown. I edit the files before storing them, to reduce some size. It is finding that slower, I think. Or it could just be because I'm expecting more? The Baseboard manufacturer says ASUSTech Computer Inc; Baseboard product P7P55D-E...

Sorry, it's my fault -- I did not notice that you are using MP2. :(
MP1 has a separate configuration utility, similar to "TV Server Config". I have tried MP2 only a couple of times, and have never used it seriously. I don't know what MP2 supports with regard to adjusting audio delay, but I do know that all of the adjustments of...

The only configuration that is certain to work is when the MP client and MP server are from the same release.
It is sometimes possible to use MP clients from a release that is different to the MP server, but whether it works depends on the specific changes that were made between the two releases.
