tv3 external channel changer (1 Viewer)

Hi all
i have installed all required software i even followed the videos supplied here for tv3 server.i have setup the external changer to run a program in girder called (event.exe) and the parameters used is xxxx1 for channel 1 xxxx2 for channel2
and so on.
i tested the command on channel 43 and the test worked girder saw the command passed by media portal an set the channel to 43

now my problem
when in the tv guide i select a channel to view and click on it nothing happens
no channel change
tv3 external channel change does not send the commands ???
any idea as to what i am missing here i have spent days now playing around with this and getting no where.
any info would be great

I use this and have no problem version 1.0.2.0 with current SVN, I use different channel changer program but that should not effect things.

When you say tested was this from inside the plugin setup?

If so a silly thing to check but caught me out - is the plugin enabled?

Check the tv.log file to check it is loading ok, should see some entries like this

If the plugin is disabled you need to enable from TV setup, dont expand the plugins by clickking on the '+' just click on word plugins.

That may sound daft but i missed that as I just used to click on the '+' so missed the enable/disable options for a while!

yes i enabled plugin then set it up after

one other thing is i am using the zap2it plugin for the tv guide
i also tried the xmltv same result.

what am i missing it is driving me crazy and i don't have much hair as it is !! lol

gbpvr works great with girder but i REALLY like media portal and want to use it.

Are you also using the MCE Replacement Plugin for your remote? If so, this is the problem (they both cannot be used at the same time) - I understand Aaron (by and-81) is working hard on a new version that can co-exist.

I also use Zap2it and TV3 server (with an external STB - starchoice satellite), however I had to go back to the built-in plugins to get both the blaster and MCE remote to work at the same time.

Be aware that the non-replacement built in blaster (latest SVN) also has problems when sending 3 digit commands if you type in the channel directly - generally not as useful as the MCE replacement or the tv3 external channel changer, but the remote and blaster do work together. IF you go back, you will have to delete your MCE driver and go back to the built-in windows version.

I am waiting for the new version of MCE and blaster - things should be much better soon (thanks to Aaron).

sirbooker: Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having, could you post your tv.log file for me to have a look at? I'll try to duplicate the problem here and see what I can do.

gdirwin: I don't think sirbooker's problem is related to that, but I can tell you're anxiously awaiting the new plugins ... Not long now mate, I've got a couple of people testing it for me and once I iron out the last few bugs I'll make an announcement. If you simply can't wait, and you're willing to accept a few bugs (and let me know about them) then drop me a PM with your private email address and I'll post you a test copy.

i attached the tv.log file as you requested
the following is what i have in (external program details)

start in folder
c:\program files\girder
parameters
mp0 18 -silent

when i test this girder sees mp0 and triggers event for channel digit 0

but when i click on a channel in tv guide (zap2it plugin for listings)girder does not see anything...??

ok, it looks like you are sending each individual digit to Girder.

It shows in your log:

If girder is expecting one channel number (for example: "206") all in one go then you will need to change it so it doesn't send for each digit, only a "select" command is needed in that case.

However, if the individual digit's are what is needed then it looks like it's set up correctly and working, because the log shows the event.exe being run.

maybe try putting a tick in the Wait for exit check-box for the event.exe program. This will wait for each run of event.exe to finish before it tries to run it again.

girder & tv3 channel changer

i tried putting in a wait still no luck
i think what is happening is when i click on a channel to watch in the guide
the guide then trys changing the internal tuner to that channel and not sending the command to girder.
the tv card needs to stay on channel 3
media portal / tv3 channel changer needs to then send the code to girder.
i also looked at the tv.log and noticed event.exe excuted three times what i did not see was the parmeters being sent ??
how do i keep the tv card tuner on channel 3 but send the command to girder

Hi Aaron,
A bit off topic on this thread but thought I'd mention it to you at least. I noticed that if for some reason while messing arround with cards and card drivers you end up with the Card ID (Row Table Pri Key) in the Card table being, say 2 and 3 rather than 1 and 2 then the TV3Ext plug-in seems not to work. Would this make sense? For exampe My DVB-S card is card 2 and my analog card (the one I need TV3Ext for) is card 3. In my TV3Ext config I have card 2 configured. So when I change to a channel on the analog card nothing happens TV3exit dosn't fire the .exe. my logs reflect this. Pehaps config for each card found in the card table could be configure by selecting it from a dropdown rather than haveing the 2 tabs. Or I spose you could just have a tab for each card. OR is it just that I'm completely insane and don't know what I'm talking about ??? ;-)
