I've always found thetvdb.com to be real hit and miss over a 24 hour period, what works fine one day does not the next, and vice versa.

Well the site and api is up.

ThaClown, in the other thread you give this log entry (which I overlooked when I looked at it last time, sorry):
Can't connect to http://thetvdb.com/interfaces//api/7...3/mirrors.xml: The remote server returned an error: (404)Not Found. (Don't worry if all those api urls cannot be opened in a browser, that's normal....so a 404 in you're browser does not nessesarily indicate the site is down).

The important part in this is the /interfaces .... which shouldn't be there.

Can you tell me what your main (base url) mirror option is in configuration?

It should be Online TV Database - An open directory of television shows for HTPC software and NOT Index of /interfaces

    Still, something must have changed....

    Can't connect

I receive the same error. The error log reads:
"Can't connect to http://www.thetvdb.com/api/789379adbid793/mirrors.xml: The operation has timed out"

    I have MP 1.0 RC2 with MP-TV Series v2 (built on 05.apr 2008) running on Vista Ultimate x86 with SP1.

Under Import settings->Online Data sync in the MP-TV series configuration, I have the default value set for the "Main Mirror:" Online TV Database - An open directory of television shows for HTPC software

I also receives the same error as above if I try to select "Language" from the drop down selector.
If I use a web browser, I can access Index of /api... I can see 8 php files there, but no folders; and definately no xml file(s).

    Anyone having a suggestion?

    Regards,
    Bjarte

Well, the api is up right now...I don't know. You still have problems?

It's completely normal you can't see the files/dirs in you're browser. As I said before, never judge with the browser if the site is up.

I added the info about me beeing able to browse so we could rule out me having network problems :)

I updated the MP-TVseries.dll to the latest release for about five minutes ago... but still no luck...
here is a cut from the error log:

    ----
18.08.2008 18:16:31 - Found 11 unknown Series, attempting to identify them now
    18.08.2008 18:16:31 - Retrieving Data from: http://www.thetvdb.com/api/789379adbid793/mirrors.xml
    18.08.2008 18:16:52 - Can't connect to http://www.thetvdb.com/api/789379adbid793/mirrors.xml : The operation has timed out
18.08.2008 18:16:52 - Warning: No mirrors received, nothing will be downloaded!
    ---

As you can see... the problem is still there; in fact, it has been like this for a week :-/

    I can't figure it out :-s

I had a look at the log file again, and I came across this:
    ---
    18.08.2008 18:25:45 - Can't connect to http://www.thetvdb.com/api/789379adbid793/mirrors.xml : The operation has timed out
18.08.2008 18:25:45 - Warning: No mirrors received, nothing will be downloaded!
    18.08.2008 18:25:45 - Retrieving Data from: /api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=battlestar+galactica&language=all
18.08.2008 18:25:45 - Found 0 possible matches for "battlestar galactica"
    ---

If you take a look at the line where the plugin tryes to retreive data, you'll see that the URL is missing the domain part.
    It reads
    "/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=battlestar+galactica&language=all"
    but should read
    "http://thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=battlestar+galactica&language=all"

If I paste the full URL path in my web browser I receive an XML document :)

Maybe this helps you to help me :)

well, the domain part is missing because it didn't get any mirrors...so it doesn't know where to look. Come to think of it, it shouldn't even try in this case, but it doesn't really matter.

If you can get on IRC pm me and we can try a few things.

    weird...

    Inker:
Yesterday, the plugin actually fetched data from the server. And it did so without med doing anything except pressing the "Import" button. I've not altered any config in MP or in Vista, and I have not installed/uninstalled any programs. Today, the same old story reoccured.... The plugin cannot connect to the server. I tried several times this morning with no luck, and still no luck now (in the afternoon).

How the heck is this possible if this isn't server related? I always check to see that I can access the php files in the /api folder at thetvdb.com to be sure the site is up; and it has been every time.

Would it be possible to add a feature to the plugin where it defaults to "http://www.thetvdb.com" as a mirror when it cannot fetch the mirrors.xml file? This would solve the problems I have experienced. Hopefully this would not generate any new issues :)

    All the best,
    Bjarte

I had some problems related to this issue last week. All I did to get it working again was to physically delete the tvseries db (not just empty-ing/resetting it)

The database can be found in 'C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Database' when using Vista.
You will however need to reconfigure the tv series plugin.

Damandan: Thanks for the tip, but I tried to physically remove the db file, but no luck :/
It didn't make any difference. When the plug tries to fetch the mirrors.xml, the GUI hangs for 20 seconds before returning an error message which says it cannot connect to http://www.tvdb.com/api.....
This suxxx... I wish there was a simple solution to my problems, 'cause this plug is awesome when it works as expected.

But thanks for the tip anyways :)

Hello, I read some previous posts but I didn't understand if someone did it or worked on it. I'd like to ask you if there will be the chance to interface the MP-TV series plugin with TMDB also. I don't say to eliminate the chance to keep data from TVDB, but at least the option to choose to switch to TMDB or (why not?) other sources.

So not 100% sure if this is a MyTVSeries or FanArt issue, but the episode thumbnails always revert to the series default after restart. If you go to an episode and open the options and pick choose artwork then choose episode thumbnail it shows the correct thumbnail and says it is remote. Click on it and it goes local instantly and...

If anyone ever experiences the above, I found a fix. Removing and reinstalling MP-TVSeries fixed it. It must have gotten corrupted during the reinstall of MP. I also had to do the same with TRAKT which had some issues too that were not apparent at the time. All is well once again.
