Things not working since 21.12.2007 and this SVN:

1) TVE3 wont use multituners anylonger: DVB mantis 2033 DVB-C. In some SVN, you can use multituners if you select "Place in groups"
2) Since this, the TS stream wont work. Mpeg works.
3) You can see your desktop when video starts

What is happening recently? Is MP getting worse?

Possibly for some users but not others. I waited ages before updating due to the problems being reported. When I eventually did install, it worked fine for me, but clearly others are still having major problems.

I keep my computers free of codec packs and all non-essential software, and every time I update MediaPortal I make sure I delete all related files, databases, etc. That way, there can be no conflict between versions.

The developers have posted guidelines for submitting bug reports. These include information on how to set the logging level to debug, posting a step-by-step description of the problem and how to reproduce it.

Are the people having problems recording using mpg or ts recording? Directly recording to mpg has always been ropey (although is not in Mantis, so how would a new user know???).

So, I don't think it is getting worse at all. I suspect that the project is becoming more popular, so that there is more variation of systems and experience level of users to contend with (please, nobody take offense!).

Give it a go. Do your background reading of the forums, and if something doesn't work, submit a detailed report. That way, the devs actually have a chance of fixing it!

I found it. It was the audio spdif setting from the Cyberlink PowerDVD 7 codec. It is working fine now. Except for some HD channnels that freeze. (Nat Geo NGC)
