.TS recording format

I have been having some problems playing back TV recorded via my DVB-S cards, the recoding format is set to .ts for these cards. Attempts to play these back just gives me a black screen and no sound. I can play this back fine with mplayer.

Changing to .mpg recoding format and all is ok.

I have seen this behaviour since about the 13th/14th and only just got round to having a look.

I will do a more controlled test later and upload the log files...anyone else seeing this?

This is due to the fact that on playback files with extension ts the tsreader filter of Media Portal is always used. With mpg extension Windows chooses which direct show filter will be used.

I found out that with the latest svn some transport streams could be played back which failed with previous releases and showed similar behavour like you described.

I will collect some logs as currently you can watch tv, if you record it (press record), the recording can not be played back with in MP. Sure that cant be good with the default for DVB being .ts files...
